Afternoon Mrs P, ooh I'd have made pie mmm, chopped up all the veg , whacked it into a pie dish, chopped up the gammon and thrown that in, some kind of white sauce if you fancy, top with slices of potato, bake in the oven mmm.

    Sounds lovely

Ah Mrs PG like the attitude of safeguarding those pots:rotfl:

Today I made a chicken pie ( even made the pastry..only took me 5 mins and had forgotten how therapeutic it feels!) with some ( not all! How frightfully MSE!;)) LO chicken, gravy, veggies and for some reason some crime fraiche! It's going to be for tomorrow ..but it was easy and most families love pies!

There is still chicken in the fridge so will be either Thai chicken soup or for kids sandwiches. 2kg chicken has gone a long way.

Re camping..any chance you can get away over the Jubilee weekend? Know
Lots of places are getting booked up but it's nearer than August!!

Well all the suggestions sound lovely thankyou, and pies always go down a treat here. I seem to be forever making chicken pies these days as well Mrs B !

Sadly I didnt get a chance to try out the Gammon in the slow cooker or Kerris suggestion as the evening didnt go to plan !

On arriving home at 6pm I found DD1 and cronies very frustrated in the kitchen, with a bowl of cake mixture, recipe books ( you can imagine the mess!!) and a couple of loaf tins full of uncooked mixture sitting in the oven. Apparently there was something wrong with the oven , noone thought to call me about it though and they had been waiting for over an hour for the cakes to cook. I'm sure you can guess................................they had forgotten to turn the oven on, but what they did do was turn the top oven on but only to about 50 degrees, therefore there was a small amount of heat seeping through into the main oven so they decided that it must be on !! Anyway, I had to take control as a powerpoint had to be done as well as the cakes baked, decorated and labelled, hence I had extra mouths to feed and there was no way 2 Gammon slices would sretch that far. After raiding the Sealed ISH Pot I grabbed some chicken breasts, thankfully I had everything else I needed and rustled up a quick chicken curry and salad which went down well with the hungry hordes. They finally left at 10pm last night and I now have an eroding Cliff Face Cake sitting prettily in the kitchen !!

Mrs B I would love to go away the Jubilee weekend, but we are working all over the Bank Holiday unfortunately:( Have you plans for that weekend ? x

Hello, just checking what you've been up to, and it's loads as usual :).

Congratulations on paying off 13% already! That is really going some, well done. Bad luck on having to raid your sealed ISH pots though to feed the girls.

The forgetting-to-turn-the-oven-on story reminded me of one of Mr Happy's mis-adventures years ago. We'd just got married and had been given an electric deep-fat fryer as a wedding present. Mr Happy decided to make me some chips as a token of his affection (he is indeed very romantic!). He placed the fryer on top of the hob so that the extractor fan would take away any fumes. Then he absent-mindedly turned on the hob instead of the fryer. Then he left the room for 15 minutes, only returning to see what had set the smoke alarm off!! I can't begin to describe the mess - the fryer had completely melted all over the brand new hob, and all the oil had spilled out over the entire kitchen. And the SMELL!! I should have taken that as a sign - I was probably still in time for an annulment :rotfl:!
