eBay? With companies that are really good quality, it's a good way of getting the look without paying the prices. I buy Joules stuff on there for £5 or less instead of £40-£60. My technique, when I decide I need to add to my wardrobe, is to do an eBay search for what I want, filter it so that it shows only Auction listings and only listings with a price of £5 or lower, put anything interesting on my watch list and then set up an email alert so eBay lets me know when anything meeting the same criteria is listed. I've got some real bargains that way, including the Halo & Co tiara I wore at my wedding - never thought I'd be able to afford one and I nabbed it for £30 instead of the £350 it would have cost new.

Thanks Caz. I have used ebay for those sort of bits for the last two or three years. Abercr0mb£e and the like. We have had good stuff and bad. DD2s winter coat was Abercr)mbie from ebay but arrived with the belt missing and two weeks later the zip broke. But saying that we have had some great bits also. The things I was hoping to buy the girls arent on ebay at present but I will be keep looking as I wont be getting them anything now with car repair bill as already mentioned.:(

Oh no PG..that's absolutely carp. Am so sorry. Agree with DFW...is it worth getting a new one? A more reliable one where you can get a better handle on maintenance costs.

And have to say girls will cope. I would really avoid spending on them if you can..so that you can get DF quicker...they are great girls and do understand ( I can tell these things over the last few months:p )

    Take care. X

Thanks Mrs B and DFW. Buying a new car really isn't an option, but paying the bill is going to be a tough one also. The car is reliable and the newer of the two. Great on fuel and 6 years old as opposed to the other car which is 13 years old. That is the car that will need to be changed asap.

Mr PGs car only went in for something small to be changed of which the parts were £20 plus labour. The problem arose as to get to the parts that needed changing the injectors had to be taken off in order to fit the part and then injectors put back on. The injectors would not come off and this is where the bill is coming into play. The car is in pieces therefore we either ask them to put if back together with the work not done and sell to a poor unsuspecting person which I dont think I could do (also Mr PG doesnt think it can be put back together again without the work being done now , he is asking the question otday ) They have had to get in a hydraulic pump or something but even that couldnt get them off so it is being put on the back of lorry and taken somewhere to try and get the injectors off, so what was a tiny job has now become massive. The injectors look to be damaged now so therefore they will now need to be replaced once they have been got off so the bill is escalating. Obviously its one of those things that you know nothing about until the work starts. The garage have tried their best to keep the cost down .

Even if we were to buy another car we couldn't spend as much as ours is currently worth (not when in pieces though !) . Mr PG drives a four hour round trip plus each day to get to and from work so it has to be reliable we cant go and buy an old banger off of the forecourt to get us by. If he doenst make it to work we lose a days pay and also suffer the wrath of the client which doesn't look good on us.

I am sure we will sort it somehow. Thankfully for the next few days Mr PG is able to get into work by train so one car is getting us by for now thankfully.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, I didnt have time to check in on the diaries apologies xxx

    Woohoo well done you.

As I've read your diary it seems to me that things start to get a bit panicky with work or money and then you have a sudden influx and all things get set right IYKWIM.

Love that you rigged up booby traps around the girls tent, I remember camping with Brownies and Guides and hated it. Still do, so much so that I don't even know what our 12 man tent looks like lol.

Good to see you Alioops. You are right about work, we panic then it seems to come good. I just hope it keeps happening. Things are a bit tight at the moment as we had a quiet spell so now have nothing coming in and once more have some very late paying clients. :(

I think Brownie and Guides camping is a bit different to camping with the family, maybe you should dust down the tent and give it a go ! I was kicked out of Brownies for constantly flouting the "No Sweets in Church rule" so have no camping experiences of which to compare as I wasnt allowed to go !

This was Aussie Brownies and Guides so a lot different to the English ones, no church involved at all just a lot of good times.

I have thought of going camping, our friends love camping and every year hubbies company puts on a festival for the staff and I would love to go with him but currently can't sleep on the floor as I've got two hip operations to get out the way first (I'm 34 but feel and walk like a 70 year old :rotfl:).

Is there no way of having the garage take some responsibility for the cost of repairs as it reads that they may have caused some of the damage?

    Good luck with it.

I will happily borrow that Pony of your Baldy especially in the abscence of dear New Leafs Stink Eye !!

DFW, cant believe you are having more tenant troubles, I will try and pop in later.

Re the car, the garage havent caused the damage, apologies if I gave that impression. The decision we have made is for them to change the parts they can, then put it back together. It will pass its MOT at the end of the month and then I think we will wave goodbye to it ! Looks like I will be back at the Auctions with my clip board and a bacon Sarnie shortly ! Mr PG will be sad to see it go, he loves that car :(

Must dash, DD1 running late for school xx
