    Mornign all,

Hope your weekends are going well.

I had a lovely day with DD2 yesterday, DD1 was off to yet another party and sleepover. Thats girls social life is off the scale these days ! :p

DD2 off on her school residential to the Isle of Wight on Monday .She is very excited to be goign abroad !!! She is goign on a boat after all !!! We will all miss her soo much, she is a bit of a homebird, but I know that she will be fine and is getting very excited. She needed a few bits for the trip, so we had a little girly shopping trip yesterday for a new swimsuit and joggers and bought a few extra bits for her fancy dress costume. . Didnt stay out long as she was still feeling poorly. Came home and did a few boring jobs like washing and cleaning of floors. She was wiped out and lay on the sofa and started and finished a new book:D. I love seeing her read rather than glued in front of the tv or computer games. She loves her books though but has goen throught the books in the library and its get hard finding books suitable. She has a high reading ability, but at the age of 11 I need to watch the content of some of the books that she is certainly able to read, but I just dont want her too due to the content. I usually end up skim reading them myself or I getting DD1 to read them for me and then tell me if they are ok for DD2 or not. :D

DD1 stuck her head in for a while to say hi early afternoon and show me her newly pink hair ! Just the ends thankfully a la Jessie J , and she assures me it is wash in wash out. She has the most gorgeous thick blonde hair and I nearly cried , but am trying to remind myself that in my day it was Sun In we all used which turned our hair orange, and I had a lovely orange streaky fringe,so the baby pink DD1 has is actually quite pretty in comparison ! :)

Was hoping for an evening in with Mr Pinot yet his job didnt go well and he didnt make it home until 11pm, shattered and hungry. He left for work at 5am this morning, not happy at all. He should have had today off, he needs today off, but the equipment he was given for yesterdays job was faulty and as he said he could hardly walk away from the job unfinished. It wouldnt do our comapnies reputation any good at all . He hasnt seen the girls for four weeks other than at the wedding last week which doesnt really count as they were bridesmaids and it was hectic and with DD2 going away early tomorrow he wanted a day with her. He is hoping he can get the job going ok and be home by about 3 ish but from a rather angry text I have jsut received I suspect things may not go to plan !:(

In the meantime, i need to climb in the loft for DD2s case and we need to get packing before collecting DD1 at some point although she isnt far away and could walk home, so I may get her to do that to save me a little time and a car journey which I am trying to limit at the moment.. Need to go out to do a ltitle food shopping also as DD2 needs a packed lunch tomorrow and also stop must at the bank for her required £25 pocket money which the school has requested the children have ! I hope she brings some home with her, but I suspect she will buy lots of lovely tat instead !!!

Hope you all enjoy your Sundays, the sun is shining here which is lovely to see xx

  • I always have pages to catch up when I come on here :rotfl: so I would like to say, I thoroughly agree with Piq, and although I understand how being self-employed works (been there, done that a few years back) and you have to take the work as and when you can or else the work may dry up/ have a quiet period/ whatever, i'm very glad you didn't try and fill the empty days you have. Poor Mr P & yourselves will burn out very quickly if you keep working every hour god sends. Did you apply for the job in the school in the end (sorry if i missed that bit, you know me and skim reading :o)??

Also onto 50 shades of grey, I haven't read it, but i have seen about 70 status updates on facebook about it in the last 2-3 weeks :rotfl: all saying good things. but i seem to be one of these people who don't like to read it when everyone else is i like to do it in my own time and by the time i get round to raving about it noone else is bothered anymore and has moved on :rotfl: - i did the same with twilight :rotfl:

Have heard of the takeaway book on the DFW boards and OS boards.......but if you know me well enough, you understand that i don't really like cooking :o so would only ever consider buying the book for dh's birthday :o:rotfl:

I hope dd2 has a good time on her trip away :T i remember when ds1 went on a trip with the school for 4 days, an adventure type thing and i was so upset. Made good training for me though for when he left me to go to boarding school in the September :(! As for the books she reads, my ds1 also had a high reading age and had read everything the junior school had to offer at that point so i thought what's the harm in getting 13+ books. Well he thoroughly enjoyed them and I had a sneak peek one day at one ...and it was all about sex :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: he was on the last in a series by then so i let him have it but it was at that point i realised he was not my 'little' boy anymore :o:o:o:eek::rotfl:

Thankyou DFW, and I know you and Piq are right about the whole work , self employed thing. Its so difficult though, obviously we need a certain amount to pay the bills, another amount to keep the business going, fuel costs etc etc and obviously we never know when we will or wont get paid for the work we have done so it is a tough call. We have no work as such tomorrow ( well not paid anyway) but a day full of meetings instead which is just as bad as Mr Pinot still wont get any down time. He left at 5am and still isnt home, I have no idea when he will get back but DD2 is desperate to see him as her coach leaves at 7am tomorrow.

See what you mean about 50 shades, I'm similar to you there and always have been, I hate to do what everyone else is doing and when I was younger hated to wear the clothes everyone else wore, I always wanted to be that little bit different, not way out their , but just not the same as all of my friends . DD1 appears to have inherited that ! I really was being a total nutter yesterday though, I really thought that HH and NRA had some secret code for another 50 shades of Grey style book that they were calling Takeaway Secrets, goodness knows what that story would have entailed !!!
I cant say I like cooking much, Mr Pinot loves it, and finds it relaxing but isnt around enough to do it unfortuantely. Every now and then I have a splurge which I have recently and cook up a storm, then I get in a rut and cant t be bothered mode again !

DD2 went away with the school for 3 days last year and this one is Mon to Friday, obviously I have done it before with DD1, but I knowI will her being away. Only because she is such fun and great company, but on the other hand I know she will have a really great time , and she is getting really excited now ! Her huge case is packed, her lunch for the journey ready and she is looking after her spending money with her life !! :rotfl: at your story about the books, exactly why I pre read DD2s or get DD1 to do it if I dont have time although I do know some of them have had a few slightly risque bits in them. Im sure your DS thoroughly enjoyed his books !!! I also really do admire you for coping with having DS away at boarding school, I know I would really struggle.

Anyway must dash, dinner to cook xxxx:)

Hi Just popping in to say hope Mr P gets home soon and that DD2 has a wonderful time away.

Having just scim read through the messages today I agree with all re the work life balance discussion. I know how difficult it can be,either as self employed or when families work different shifts and you begin to feel lijke ships in the night.

Its wonderful that the girls like to read. I used to read so much in my younger days and now the only time I seem to do it is if I have a proper holiday away from everything.

Enjoy the rest of your evening and hope to catch up again soon.

omg sun in ha ha ha

so basically I bought 50 shades for the kindle as all the girls at work are raving about it, obviously had no effect on me because well, I like women.

However I felt it needed more story and less , well you know.

So I am home and happy, what are you up to this week Pinot?

PG, hope you get some resolution on the work balance before one of you falls over. Appreciate it's not easy. You can't buy back time!

My books on it's way. Will report back.

  • Haha I also remember the 'sun in' i was convinced it would turn my hair a beautiful golden blonde so poured it all over my head one hot day.......I ended up completely ginger !!! That will teach me for thinking someone who is half Irish could get away with going from brunette to blonde without the mandatory 'Irish' ginger in between! :p !

Pinot i'm exactly the same i like to do the opposite of what everyone else is doing without being 'too out there' lol but then curiosity always gets the better of me and i have to wear/read/watch what everyone else is doing......so it always actually makes me behind everyone else :p (fool I am)

I hope your DD has a wonderful time away and the weather holds out :)

As for the self-employment, my father is still self-employed (always has been) and it was him i worked for when i was, i honestly couldn't hack it. I guess if i had known about budgeting, spreadsheets & on-line banking (if it was even around then) i may have fared better but it made me edgy about taking holidays, days off etc and I missed loads of my eldest sons sports days, parents days, etc etc. My father made it to one of my sports days when i was 13 and i will always remember it because it was so unusual for him to be there lol! And even now 30 years down the line of being self employed he still works every hour god sends, so i don't mean to sound like i'm telling you off :o i honestly take my hat off to all you lovely peeps that are self-employed! It's a tough old world out there for you!

Anyway i was doing the washing so will get back to that now ;) xx
