Ok, now I know this is going to make me sound like a totally paranoid nutter, but I'm going to tell you anyway as I cant tell anyone else !

I have just returned from dropping a friend of DD2s back at home. Where we live is very small and quiet with no passing traffic so its quite a rarity to see any unusual cars. Over the years we have tended to even get to recognise the cars of people visiting the neighbours and their relatives.

I have turned into the road and sitting outside the house two doors from me, and slightly blocking the road were two burly bald headed men sitting in a bright red, very old, BMW convertable. They were wearing black bomber jackets.They weret talking jsut starign straight ahead. For some reason they have put the wind up me well and truly.

Now, I think I am calm, generally anyway , and dealing with this debt thing ok , but I am convinced they are debt collectors waiting for me to return home:eek:. We parked the car on the drive, and I asked DD2 to close the double gates and I double locked them. I then grabbed her hand and ran into the house through the back door, she wanted to stop and feed the bunny but I wouldnt let her ( the last time I used the back door instead of the front was before I started writing this diary, after I had had a doorstep visit from the inland revenue ) I have locked and bolted the back door and then pulled all the blinds at the front of the house so they cant see in and locked the front door. DD2 was questioning my actions. I explained that the people in the car,she had notcied them as well looked a bit iffy to me . She laughed and said I was weird !

I feel happier now we are indoors and they didnt see me walk from the driveway and into the front door, but they are still sitting out there.

We dont get old cars around here ( well other than mine !) only posh ones usually , and the last time there were burly people outside any of the houses was when the old neighbours were repossessed and the baliffs were sent in.


I am trying to keep calm, DD1 has poured me wine as the plan was for the three of us to have a girly night in tonight watching Glee and eating a curry I had made earlier. Now I am a little jittery though.

I am sure I am being really silly and the likely hood of them knocking is slim, but its freaked me out. If they arent looking for me why are they sitting in the car at all ?

Calming words would be much appreciated !

OK, you are paying everyone via your DMP

They are sitting 2 doors down, not outside your house, blocking your drive

You are not the only people to live on the street or to have money worries.

There is nothing they can do to you and I very much doubt they are there for you. However, if you are that scared of them, ring the police and tell them there are 2 suspicious looking men loitering outside your house and you are on your own with your 2 young DDs.

If you are worried call the police, they will n ot mind, it is out of character for the area

As for the wine....... if it's going to waste send it up North. Am trying not to buy so not tempted to drink it.

Dearest one, even if they are debt collectors they can only knock at the door they can't come in. They have no rights at all, you don't even have to open the door.

The only debt collectors with any authority are the one's who collect for council tax arrears. Not debts that have been sold on such as credit cards and loan.

Stop worrying, have that glass or two of wine. If you like I'll come round and keep you company.

rightly said Piq and I think even CT have to get a liability order first.
