Is it just you he wont reply to? Could you get someone else to call pretending to be a "new customer", and see if he answers/returns their call? If he does, then there is a problem, which firm action (i.e formal letters in advance of court action) is most likely needed for. If he doesnt return the other persons call either, then it seems more likely he is away/ill/dead or i guess, done a runner totally.
It may seem an extreme tactic, but disappearing suppliers was a fairly common thing when i was planning a wedding and using a wedding forum, and this was a good tactic for sussing out the likely problem people.

I would say, in defence of the photographer, that it is also quite common for them to run over time a bit if they have had a few weddings all together. In which case he may be avoiding you till he is caught up. Not excusing it if thats what he is doing, it is a cop out, and honesty would be better! Our photographer took an extra 2 weeks longer than she said, but 'fessed up early on..

    Good luck!

but it seems to OP does not want to turn up at his office/home to see if he is there. anyone can ignore phone calls/emails, but if you turn up at his home it will be hard for someone to not answer the door and you could also personally hand whoever answers a letter before action.
He may have even used a fake address, so the person at the address does not know him and then you know he is a con artist, but until you have the courage to call at the address you will never know.

once op has turned up at his door though one way or the other they should get an answer and people should then be able to advise further.

The only problem is i'm sure the money side of it is not of concern to op, as you can't just replace wedding photos.

If it turns out it is the correct address and he's messing her about, i'd personally just ask for all the photos on a CD and then leave, rather than risking further problems or delays with him. Atleast this way despite the annoyance, op has whats most important.

Take someone with you op if you feel uncomfortable -- so long as you ensure it is approached in a casual, non-threatening manner as that's going to help nobody.

i think this is essential for if anything else but a witness.
  • I feel for you. My photographer never supplied everything on the invoice and so I took her to the small claims court. She failed to respond so a judgement was made against her, she failed to make a payment and then I had to pay another £100 for an attachment of earnings order (I supplied her employment details too). All of a sudden she is claiming she never received anything and has put in a counter claim against me for £1050 for outstanding payment, travel costs and the fact that she had paid £600 out of her own pocket for editing the video 4 times. Apart from 2 sample copies and a A3 album of her own choice (which I hadn't chosen) nothing else materialised.

I received the letter this morning and am now stressed at the fact that I have to go to court in January so that she can defend herself and tell a pack of lies. I have text evidence at least which show her deceit and proof of letters I sent via recorded delivery asking her to resolve the issue amicably.

I just want my money back....£1100 for an album and 2 sample dvds (really bad sound quality with music ripped from YouTube) which I didn't even choose :(
