Hi all,
I have been a bit of a fool.I made the mistake of trying to buy some tickets for the Rugby at the weekend on gumtree. I stupidly paid for some tickets and transfered some money into a bank account.
Guess what the tickets didn't arrive and I have been fleeced
I have an address, name and bank account details. Its been reported to my bank who suggest I get a crime reference number. I think the only thing that can be genuine is the account number.
Is there anything any one can suggest.
Would they not be able to trace the account number?
Thanks allThe bank? Yes of course they can.
But they are not going to give that information to you are they?
Data protection, privacy, etc.
The Police or a Norwich Pharmacal order by the court0 -
whats the latter...?!0

is there anyting else I can do?!
Transferring money directly to someone else's bank account really is not a good idea.
Even Gumtree say:Is it a scam? The top warning signs
The number one thing to remember: Gumtree is all about being local. Always meet with whoever you’re dealing with face to face, which is an easy way to avoid any potential scams.
Have you followed the advice in Gumtree's I've been the victim of a scam. What should I do? faq?0 -

Same scam:
yamaha digital piano YDP142
sarah38wilson@gmail.com
07902954444
Item 1051920579
Got a text from the number, but can't get through calling. By gumtree's map, I'm under 10 minutes away from the item location - no way someone legitimate would think it a better idea to post it!0 -

Found same advert and text sold on Ebay. Looks like they copied it.
Lucky I smelt a rat and the Parcel Force email did not look genuine.0 -
I have also fallen victim to this and could kick myself because looking at it now, obviously a scam! Mine was through Freecycle and the courier involved is Neptune Courier.
I have reported to the National Fraud service (tel:0300 1232040) I have managed to cancel one Ukash voucher but I am still out of pocket. I'll have to take that on the chin.
I want to urge anyone who has been fleeced like this to please report to the Fraud service
The person offering the item is mercyfancy9@gmail.com0 -
PHEW! Saved by a phone call
I found a pine farmhouse dining table and 6 chairs on FRIDAY AD and received exactly the same email as above but from Laura Milton. When I received the email from "Parcelforce" talking about UKASH vouchers, which I'd never heard of, I rang UKASH who informed me that it was probably a scam (UKASH are a genuine company). I then followed up with Parcelforce and gave them the temporary tracking number and was informed that this was not one of theirs as too long! I have also contacted FRIDAY AD and informed them and they immediately removed the advert and blocked the seller.0 -
Another idiot here! I thought I was good at spotting scams, but a bicycle was offered on my local Spalding freecycle group, I answered it, and a week later, got a reply saying the mods were late in putting the 'offer' on the forum and due to ill health, 'Jane Whitefield' had relocated to Aberdeen. I said it was a shame, but then she came back and said if I sent a courier for it, I could still have the bike. All the couriers I tried said the bike had to be bubble wrapped and boxed, so then 'Jane' comes back to me saying that she found a courier who would box it for us and send it down to me. I should have realised, but really wanted to trust her, she sounded so nice, that I paid the delivery amount by UKASH, then got an email from the 'courier' (Links-couriers of Aberdeen) to say that I needed to pay a 100% refundable insurance before they could send it, and like an idiot I did. I was suspicious by this time, but I googled UKASH, and they looked okay, then I googled the couriers and their website wasn't too bad, few anomalies, and I did wonder why they didn't take VISA. The bike (she sent pics too!) was electric, so ideal for me with my arthritis. Wasn't until today that I managed to get back onto here and read all these similar messages!
So this one is still going on, just wish I'd listened to my head instead of my heart!0 -
I don't know if I should cry or laugh on myself. I managed to be fooled by Laura Milton. I was very busy having my head around too many places, so yeap I "bought" a Sofa bed, to bed I will never get to sleep in it. What I do not understand is how the $%^& is possible that exactly the same email address and wording is used for such a long period, and authorities where still not able to get hold of this scumbags? How come that there are several months and years of scam and some email addresses are still live????
Bottom line, what out for:
Tel: 07593536717
Email address: laura75milton@gmail.com
Emails ending in your spam, even if they appear to be from: royal-mail@depot-tracking.co.uk
Hope others will be more wiser and not fell for it.
Moral: Don't be to busy when you are shopping!0
