UPS UKASH UKCASH Gumtree Scam and scams in general

Maybe the Mod team could clarify why they have removed the false names used by the scammers? It certainly helps warn others if the email addresses they are using are visible on the internet.
They could have at least left the names this person is using. If anyone does a search for the name(s) now, they aren't going to be able to find anything. This thread has prevented people becoming victims and confirmed the fears of others due to the information posted but without that detail available it is now useless.
Mod team, please at least put the names back that the person uses or clarify why the information from my posts has been removed......names & email addresses are still on previous posts so it doesn't make sense?? I just thought it would be helpful if all of them were on one post.
If anyone would like a list of the names/emails/phone numbers please PM me.Worst Debt November 2005 £11,089.80:eek:Quidco since November 2006 £969.31:TPROUD TO BE CLEAR OF MY DEBTS :money:0 -
It's outrageous that MSE mods have removed those phone numbers. As mentioned above by frase64, MSE are now complicit in this fraud. I personally found out about this criminal by searching for the phone number.
Perhaps MSE should think about the consumer, not their illadvised lawyers.0 -
So sorry to hear that you have become yet another victim.
I would contact your credit card company although I doubt you would get a refund from them as you used it to buy the voucher, not the item but it's worth a try.
Please make sure you report it to Gumtree and the police and also complete the online fraud report at actionfraud (details in my previous post)
Why this is so particularly clever is that you CAN'T use a credit card to buy UKASH, you are forced to buy with cash. So that way, you can't have any claim. Very frustrating.0 -

I've put the full list on another consumer forum too and it hasn't been removed from that one.....yet. I will keep posting it wherever I can in the hope that it prevents others from getting conned.
I really can't understand why MSE have removed the post as the police were already aware. I sent the whole list to actionfraud too so they've got the full details.Worst Debt November 2005 £11,089.80:eek:Quidco since November 2006 £969.31:TPROUD TO BE CLEAR OF MY DEBTS :money:0 -

Yes, it's very much a case of buyer beware on Gumtree at present! One of the common themes with these current scams is the email address the so called seller provides you with, if you read through a few results from Google, you will notice that the address is always a name followed by 75@gmail.co.uk, so it could be angela75@gmail.co.uk, or perhaps Helen75@gmail.co uk, that's the first give away here. Next is their explanation as to why you can't contact them directly, seemingly due to them being located in a poor/ weak signal area! Then we have the suggestion of being able to use Parcelforce cash on delivery service, well, this simply does not exist! Call Parcelforce and they will soon tell you that they do not operate such a service. So when you see any email that proports to be from Parcelforce giving you step by step instructions as to how to pay for your delivery, this is a total scam too, this email is NOT from Parcelforce! This fake seller may also make an effort to offer an explanation as to why there are significant delays in responding to your messages, these usually mention how they are called into work at short notice, they may also offer you the possibility of them arranging to drop off your item to you as they will be visiting their mother soon, so they ask you for your postcode to be able to check their satnav, total rubbish, yet another lie ! Try to keep a written note of as many details that they provide, like the exact email address they give you, you know, the gmail one, also any item number or add reference number etc etc, you will need this information to contact Gumtree about it all, but do remember this, many people have been caught out this way and even though they have taken the time to report it to Gumtree, it is STILL going on today! So what else could you do? Well, perhaps you could contact trading standards, your local MP and if you have actually lost money, then without a doubt, report it to the police, just be prepared to be able to supply as much supporting evidence as you humanly can. At the end of the day, if no-one does anything, then just how will this ever get stopped? Thanks for reading and good luck.I nearly fell for this scam from this woman, Angela Murray <angela75murray@gmail.com> for a IKEA futon in Liverpool
The scam was the same as other people have said on this forum. Poor signal strength on mobile, limited emails, can ship and pay delivery company on the door. Just got the email from "parcelforce" for the UKASH voucher code. As if I'm going to hand over money without receiving the futon. And I agreed C.O.D with her as well! I will report it to gumtree, for all the good it will do!0 -
Wow, never thought I would see MSE aid and abet scammers by removing details that could well save unsuspecting people from being done over also.
MSE hold your heads in shame, disgusting.0 -
