Hmmmmmmmm yea EON are faffin about with my account aswell.
I always just enter my meter readings then pay the bill by debit card on my online account - They always send me an email each quarter to state I am going to have a bill produced please provide meter readings.
I had a bill on 25th Oct 2011 was told on this bill next bill would be 25th Jan 2012 - Got another bill at the beginning of December which is only like 5 weeks later & I'm quarterly!!!
I called them up & they said well we have billed you before when you have contacted us with meter readings but the girl on the phone was unaware that they always initiate that contact otherwise I would never read my meters I'd forget!
They have now said as goodwill they would hold my account until Feb 2012 but the only reason I dont have the money to pay the estimated bill is cos they billed me early:mad:
Grrrrrrr rant over - sorry for blethering on!

Perhaps I can help out a bit with this. Perhaps EON sent ME letters they should have sent to YOU! I got a letter advising me that there was a change to the billing cycle coming up... Perhaps it's that change that has impacted you.
Perhaps that Malc can help you too.0 -
Maybe they have!
I havent heard about that either way if they change it I'll still not set up a DD - I dont trust them!

I have the same view, and reading the thread makes it even more scary!0 -
tbh I think all of the power companies are the same!
I'm not giving them my money to pay bills that they have estimated so they can make ££££ when its sitting in their bank - its a challenge to get anything back from them if you end up in credit

They are intent on taking me to the Magistrates' Court, as you may have read, but they won't even give me the right date so I can go and tell MY side of the story!0 -

Firstly - I was cold-called at the end of 2010 and offered a ten per cent reduction on my current Scottish Power prices. I jumped at it and let the caller change me over to EON. We set the DD at ten per cent less than I was then paying to Scottish Power. Made perfect sense, until the bills escalated massively! Now EON deny that my account says anything about any price reduction promise!
I had run up huge bills and hadn't paid for ages (the DD's got cancelled when I was out of work). I was threatened by EON so I paid half of each of them. I also paid for my November usage after that, to stablise the account. I don't think I really owe them much more than I have paid, but I can't obtain the per-unit costs to do the detailed calculations.
I gave EON a gas meter reading, which they then rearranged the digits of! They have overbilled me over £250.
Now, despite my having raised a Formal Complaint about the misselling, they are taking me to the Magistrates Court "on or before 29th December" to obtain a warrant against me. They are using that overbilled gas account and will put it before the Magistrates. The meter reading is fallacious, and EON have even admitted that to me, but it won't stop them in front of the Magistrates.
I can't even go to the Magistrates to defend myself, since they haven't given me a date, only "on or about 29th December". Notification arrived on 24th December, so I have been unable to discover anything in the meantime about court schedules etc.
Malc - I have been missold and now EON are gonna use duff numbers to obtain a warrant against me! Please help me obtain the true billings based on the promise EON procured my custom with.
Oh and BTW - VERY happy to pay what I really owe (i.e actual usage priced at ten per cent below my earlier Scottish Power tariff prices). Do the maths please and I will pay up.
Thanks
Sue
Sorry for the late reply Sue. Only returned to the office today after the Christmas break.
This certainly sounds messy and you're definitely right to complain if you believe you were given misleading info by our sales rep. The complaint will be investigated and the rep taken to task if they've acted inappropriately.
Have we re-billed your account to the correct gas meter reading? If not, have we given you a reason why?
If there's an outstanding balance on the account, debt follow up will kick in unless there's a formal payment arrangement in place. I'm afraid, ad hoc payments will not be recognised as a formal arrangement.
The overall charges will be based on the amount of usage in kWh and the prices applicable to the tariff you're on.
Sorry for the questions Sue but not quite sure where we're at with this one. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you would like me take a look. Happy to do so.

Hi Dolly Rocker
Sorry about this but, as littledragon says, we've been adjusting certain billing frequencies recently. This is to improve accuracy.
Not sure if this is what's happened to you but certainly a thought. However, we've been writing to customers to tell them about this so you should've had a letter if your account has been affected.
I'm guessing though and could well be wrong. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you would like me to check what's actually happened. Happy to do so and sorry again for inconvenience.

This made me laugh out loud - improve accuracy? Sorry not convinced.
Eon have just sliced 2/3rds off my DDM - I was approximately one month's payment in credit in Decemeber and the winter has barely started. The amount you want to collect now won't cover the monthly electric bill never mind the gas for cooking and heating.
I will be voting with my feet as soon as my contract ends.0 -
Hi Amanita
If the Direct Debit amount we're proposing isn't covering your ongoing usage, it sounds as though something might have happened on the account to skew the calculations.
For instance, has there been any billing issues, problems with estimated meter readings, metering problems etc in the past year or so?
I've also known cases where continually changing the Direct Debit to an amount that doesn't reflect usage to cause problems with future calculations.
Not saying this is the case on your account Amanita, it's just something that I've known happen.
Have you spoken to us about this and, if so, what was the explanation given?
With these types of issue, they usually work through after a problem free period. In the interim, agents will be able to manually calculate the monthly payments.
Sorry for the vagueness but difficult to say without more info. Give me a shout if I can help further as will be happy to do so.
