What are EON playing at ?
1) My bill came in today and I'm over £110 in credit, but they want to put my DD up by £12 a month ? Then they predict I will use £930 next year, which my current DD will cover. Sheer madness
2) When our current plan ended in 31st August we went over to Save Online 9 and sumitted our own readings.EON have ignored our CORRECT readings and put estimates in place that favour them.
In addition they have applied three further estimate readings on the gas ?
Having always been with EON ( I dont switch), I cant understand what they're playing at.

Hi swilliam
I'm sorry we've used estimates and not the readings you've given us.
It may be we received your readings outside of the billing window (14 days either side of the billing window for quarterly billed customers). If this is the case, your readings will have been recorded but not used for billing. This will have led to an estimated bill.
However, I'm speculating here. Have a chat with us and let us know up to date readings. We'll be happy to re-bill accurately and re-assess your Direct Debit.
Provided you've registered with our website, you can do this online if you wish. This is through the Real Time Billing function.
Just enter the readings in the relevant boxes on the Meter Screen and click 'Submit Readings.' A balance will appear on screen and you will be given the option of requesting a bill.
Once this has gone through, we can re-assess the Direct Debit based on accurate info.
Alternatively, drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer. I'll be happy to take a look for you.

The readings were submitted online the day prior to changeover onto Online saver 9. We've now been on the phone and sorted all the issues out. But this situation repeats itself year after year. Every spring for the past 4 years EON have had to repay me on average £140.
In recent years I've been upto £300 in credit during October only to have my DD increased. This time I've given a flat no. I'm remaining on my current DD amount or walking. It appears the EON rep felt my anger and left things as they were.0 -
Keep a good eye on your account, I had them agree after much argument not to increase my DD but they went ahead anyway and took the increased amount.0
-
did the same with me and got the dates wrong so i ended up going overdraft, admitted they error and i got £25 back but its not the point0
-
I find them a shambles and am now looking at the best option for me to switch supplier.
I am over £77 in credit and live in a one bedroom apartment. Despite this they have sent me a letter saying my bill is rising from £63 to £100 a month
When i argued this on the phone the sales consultant said he had no discretion to change prices and i pointed out last time i spoke the consultant did - i was told the last consultant was wrongly trained!
Everytime i speak to someone they make some new story up about why i am not on the right tarriff - i don't want to be fobbed off, i just want to be paying the least for my usage and it feels each phone call i make they are suggesting my last contact was wrong and they are right.
I'm sick to death of them to be honest. Out of every large organisation i have to speak to, from my banking to mobile phones they have by far and away the most unresponsive, bureacratic and unhelpful customer service. It feels like i am being fleeced every time i speak to them0 -
Hi Jimavfc82
I'm sorry the agents you've spoken to in the past haven't been particularly helpful.
We've various tariffs available and new ones are introduced at specific intervals. It may be when you've called, a new product has been introduced which the agent was making you aware of.
However, I'm speculating here and the best thing is to pop your usage on to the comparison sites. This will list all the options available both with us and the other suppliers.
Have we explained why the Direct Debit has been increased? Even though you're in credit it may not be enough to cover predicted winter usage.
If we've not already done this, ask for a breakdown of the calculation behind the increase. Drop an email to the address in my Profile if you prefer. I'll be happy to take a look.

How many more times are the reps going to be asking posters this pointless question. Eon know full well they must provide a full explanation (including a breakdown of the calculation) every time a customers fixed DD payment is changed. If we've not already done this, ask for a breakdown of the calculation behind the increase. Why, 'If we've not already done this.'
As above, it has been incumbent on all suppliers to provide full explanations of DD payments since January, 2010. That was almost 2 years ago and you still need to ask a customer if it is being provided!
What a sorry state of affairs when multi billion pound energy companies have to have legislation passed to ensure they give customers such basic information as to how payments are calculated. Even sorrier that Eon do not appear to be able to comply with it.
Shouldn't be that difficult to explain why a DD has been increased by some 58+%.0 -

Here is a possible script.
'The 58% increase in your Direct Debit is solely down to our unreasonable and inflexible zero spring balance policy. It is designed to improve our cash flow at your expense.
It certainly hikes the amount you need to pay us, especially when we increase our prices just prior to the winter period or you join us at this time.
If you don't like it, you know what you can do.:p'0 -
Same problem with Eon - despite being in credit they wanted to triple our DD - which even with their estimated useage over the coming year would have put us into major credit with them. They had estimated our useage on an estimate that they had already corrected as it was so vastly out of line with the actual so that made it even worse. After much arguing and pointing out that their figures weren't based on facts they agreed to reduce it back to just 5% above our current DD. Unfortunately this is not the first time and so I will just wait for the next reading to trigger them into trying to get us to raise our DD and effectively giving them an interest free loan!0

I too am having massive problems with EON. I have noted the helpful posts from Malc and I am hoping he will join in here to help me out too.
Firstly - I was cold-called at the end of 2010 and offered a ten per cent reduction on my current Scottish Power prices. I jumped at it and let the caller change me over to EON. We set the DD at ten per cent less than I was then paying to Scottish Power. Made perfect sense, until the bills escalated massively! Now EON deny that my account says anything about any price reduction promise!
I had run up huge bills and hadn't paid for ages (the DD's got cancelled when I was out of work). I was threatened by EON so I paid half of each of them. I also paid for my November usage after that, to stablise the account. I don't think I really owe them much more than I have paid, but I can't obtain the per-unit costs to do the detailed calculations.
I gave EON a gas meter reading, which they then rearranged the digits of! They have overbilled me over £250.
Now, despite my having raised a Formal Complaint about the misselling, they are taking me to the Magistrates Court "on or before 29th December" to obtain a warrant against me. They are using that overbilled gas account and will put it before the Magistrates. The meter reading is fallacious, and EON have even admitted that to me, but it won't stop them in front of the Magistrates.
I can't even go to the Magistrates to defend myself, since they haven't given me a date, only "on or about 29th December". Notification arrived on 24th December, so I have been unable to discover anything in the meantime about court schedules etc.
Malc - I have been missold and now EON are gonna use duff numbers to obtain a warrant against me! Please help me obtain the true billings based on the promise EON procured my custom with.
Oh and BTW - VERY happy to pay what I really owe (i.e actual usage priced at ten per cent below my earlier Scottish Power tariff prices). Do the maths please and I will pay up.
Thanks
Sue0
