Old Style Daily Thread for Friday 4th November 2011

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Friday 4th November 2011 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Good Morning x
An early start for me as I needed to wash my eldest son's work clothes. He got in from his shift at 11.30 pm and needs to be back at 7am this morning and currently has only one shirt for work. He has asked for more but they are on order:mad::mad::mad: Anyway said shirt is now drying on my heated airer with the de-humidier blasting away. Not very OS but there you go, needs must and all that:mad::mad::mad:
I was awake anyway as I had the usual stuff on my mind. I have the Osteopath today and hope she can work miracles on my back and shoulders. It is definitely a lot better so very much worth the money:T:T:T
Hoping Poppy dog is better behaved today. I cant actually leave them alone at the moment as she keeps going for Molly. I think it is because she is still in pain but Im not putting up with it and she is sent to her bed with a very stern word or two. She absolutely knows what she is doing is wrong so I do think her wound is making her feel vulnerable. It is very unusual as they are normally the very best of friends and are lost without each other. Poor Molly is very confused:(:(:(
Hope you all have a good day xx

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Good morning Molly and all those who follow. Didnt get on at all yesterday... had this weird and wonderful idea of popping to Wilkos and picking up equipment to home brew.... Picked up carrots from the farm and currently have carrot wine on the go
Then took DD2 swimming and the lady there gave me 2 huge carrier bags of pears so they are currently fermenting inmy preserving pan :j
Then OH came in with a load of parsnips (this was the original wine idea) so its back to Wilkos this morning to go and pick another fermenting bucket up and a couple more demi johns :rotfl:
I also managed to find 5 mins to pickle some 'throw back' onions... the ones that slip throught he grader because they not the right size or shape for the supermarkets... I think there is a lot more cattle etc eating their 5 a day since the supermarkets started getting really fussy !!:mad:
After the shopping trip... and its tipping down with rain here! I have my hair to colour and tidy the house for the weekend.
Saturday OH is working in the morning then we are going to MIL's to pick up a chest freezer :T:T which I shall probably fill by sunday because the estate shoot is on saturday
On the way back from picking up freezer calling in to pick up some wheels OH bought on Ebay for one of the racing cars then back to the farm for a bonfire that OH was helping Gaffer build yesterday.
Then sunday off to watch Auto Grassing and another bonfire afterwards....
All in the rain I expect.
Hugs to anyone that needs it and I apologise in advance if I dont get on again until Monday

Morning Morning,
well.... i am shortly going to experience flying with a hangover.... this won't be fun!!
Last night was good, my friend wanted to leave about 4 songs into the main artist on stage which seemed to me rediculous, but hey ho, I am so tired now, don't feel like i have slept at all!!
Waiting for OH's dad to pick me up and take me to the airport. I really don't feel good..... I think it's more tiredness than anything though...
So no OS for me for the next few days.
Hugs to all

Morning everyone,
Hugs to you Bramble and anyone else in need.
Have woke up with really sore, red, bloodshot eyes and a runny nose, just in time for the weekend, great!
It is pouring with rain here and I am very tempted to take the car to work, not very OS I know but it is hard to carry all my bags and control an umbrella, I will decide after breakfast.:o
Tea tonight is HM pizza and DD1 and DD2 are going to a bonfire at church. DS doesn't seem to go out so much now it is dark in the evenings, don't know whether to worry that he is not doing much or be relieved that he is in and safe!
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Good morning everyone.
Bramble, i hope everything goes ok x
Farmers Wife, you have been busy. Well done on getting the chest freezer, i wouldn't be without mine.
Moorhen, hope you feel better.
It is pouring down with rain here. We must have had a fair bit during the night judging by the size of the puddles.
DH is on nights so he can walk the dog today, he usually does this and then goes to bed. Loads of ironing to get done when i get home from work.
Dinner tonight is turkey breasts and salad that needs using up.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs dto those who need them.

Good Morning all,Friday again another week has dissappeared. School run this morning, then history club this afternoon .DGD Holly will pick the boys up for me and I'll collect them from her house at around 4.15.
I must remember to ring my sis-in-law in Faversham as its 10 years today since we lost my eldest brother to a heart attack.Ten years have whistled by in the blink of an eye.Time seems to gallop the older you get I think .
DD got her poorly car fixed and re-tested yesterday so at least she can get to work today. She is a lettings agent so is on the road quite a bit seeing clients and landlords.
a quick trip to the bank to sort out some cash for eldest DD but no shopping to do until tomorrow thank goodness.I am staying away from the shops as much as possible this month as I have too many family birthdays coming up before Christmas.
Hope everyone has a good friday and an even better week-end.
Cheers chums

Morning all
Very heavy rain driving hubby to work & unfortunately I was driving my invisible car, I find it strange that people drive into me to avoid a puddle, hey ho.
Off to work soon, with all the joy that entails, TFI Friday!
DS is coming over for tea tonight & hubby & I are going to a firework party tomorrow.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning all,
Torrential rain here in the night, and lightening, poor little dog was pacing half the night, she is terrified of storms, still raining now, so washing on the airer.
Off to work today, but its friday :j, meatalls and pasta for tea, nice and easy.
I had my shopping delivered last night, and once the chap had done and we unpacked, we found the following:
1 x cous cous salad
2 x bags lettuce
2 x huge fillet steaks
1 x punnet strawberries
3 x freshly squeezed juice
1 x large packet chorizio
2 x packets ham
2 x packets parma ham
1 x quiche lorraine
1 x packet cherry toms
1x huge advacado
1 packet finest vine toms
2 x gressingham duck fillets
none of which we had ordered, I phoned sainsbugs and explained, they kept me on hold for an age, and then told us to keep it:j, its things we would never normally buy due to cost, so its like christmas for us :T
I should be able to get away with no shopping next week, apart from milk bread and veggies, which will save a bit more cash towards xmas, so very pleased.:D
Molly, I hope Poppy is better behaved today.
Farmerswife, I have a picture in my head of a rosy cheeked you in a beautiful farmhouse kitchen, surrounded by small animals, cutting up veg for your wine, please dont tell me its not true, sounds idyllic to me
Normal washing etc to do tonight.
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning x
So last night I had a lie-down from 7pm, and fell sleep at 8pm! Woke up about 11pm, and boy was I dizzy and felt really off. I had some milk and yogurt (which always helps) 10 minutes later I was violently poorly...! It's the first time since 22 weeks i've been sick so it was very much a shock! I woke up this morning with really bad sinus and a pounding in my ears from the pressure... I am crossing fingers I have a bug (as this is what I suffered from 6 to 22 weeks) and it'll ease some as we go into next week.
DH has given me strict instructions to not get out of bed before he is home (at lunchtime).
This afternoon my Gran is coming for the Weekend as it's DH Confirmation on Sunday! I have to bake 4 cakes still tomorrow (DH and DS9 will make them while I sit on a chair)! DH close friend said she would help cook on Sunday (Last weekend DH helped me make Lasagna for 18 people, and HM garlic baguettes... so everything just needs putting in the oven). And Gran loves washing up and wants to do it all for us, but she will help DH after the event to clean up!
Not a great time for 18 people to decend upon the house, but it's nice that everyone is rallying to help make sure I do as the Dr says
The house was last cleaned properly 2 weeks ago... I have a plan for Sunday, if they mention dust or dirt they can take the cleaning rags and help us out by tidying it
Oh, then Wednesday I have a property visit... I have decided that dusting isn't in my contract so she'll take it as it is... I decided yesterday that some things in life are just not worth worrying about
After two nights of 'if-it' because i've been too poorly to organise dinner (I forgot to make Pizza Dough!), DH is going to make sure the pizza dough get's made this afternoon. So Gran and the Boys will have Pizza and Chips, I will most likely have pork chop and Cauliflower Cheese (AGAIN!)
Bramble have a nice time, relax and enjoy you deserve it x
Molly41 You are right, and considering this is my 8th pregnancy (2nd ongoing) I am extreemly grateful that my body is able to make a baby. I was thinking out loud to DH only last night about how hard my body must be working to make sure Baby Roo is strong and healthy in order for me to be this poorly, it must have a lot to do! Even so I look forward to Labour (while most woman don't) because it'll be time for me to meet Roo (and give him/her a name and a cuddle)! But trust me, each time Roo plays up in life... i'll be 'do you know what I went through....'
Julie67 I hope you are okay, no more ladders today x
Everyone have a great day, and weekend!
