    Thursday 17th November

I really feel like I need a holiday from work at the moment, just feeling like I need a break. I'm off tomorrow but that's for a funeral so it's going to be emotionally draining. I'm so proud of how strong my best friend has been throughout her dads short illness. I'm so proud of her.

I hope the funeral goes as well as it can mf0u1098 xx

My sandwiches look as appealing as the empty cardboard box of Weetabix at home as the bread is probably on it's last day of use so not very fresh. However, food is food and I guess the moral of money saving is not always having the things you want when something else will do and saving treats as just that: Treats! Not having these as the norm.

You could try having wraps instead of sandwiches, or rolls with cheapo/homemade soup. I find if I mix it up a bit I'm less likely to visit bumber king or kfcrud

    Tuesday 8th November

I've been spending on my Tesco credit card rather than out of my budgeted account so I can earn Tesco points however it is all becoming rather complicated as I've no idea where I am with money despite being on my 6th No Spend Day and we're only on the 8th. My brain is not working at all tonight and I really can't work out where I'm up to.

Does anyone keep a spending diary or spreadsheets of their accounts? Do you do this daily or monthly?

    xxx

I have spreadsheet that I am trying to use daily after not having touched it since AUgust:eek:. I also have an ipod app 'expense account' that I use to track exactly where/what on my spending goes.

I'm with you on the credit card thing. I don't want to use cash because it means I miss out on getting the points. It does get hard to follow - so it's important for me to keep up to date with inputting my buying on the app or it gets out of hand very quickly!

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

This is just going to be a short entry. I am absolutely drained from today. I've still got a headache from trying to keep myself together so I could be strong for my best friend. Tough tough day. One saving grace is that he is finally no longer in pain and the waiting for the end has been almost unbearable for the family. At least now they can try to rebuild their lives and try to forget the last 6 months and remember him as he was before the illness began. I've known him for nearly 20years and has a been like a second father to me. RIP Nigel, you will be deeply missed.:A

As you can imagine I didn't let my friend pay for anything so was a VERY spendy day as bar bills go but I don't regret one penny spent today.

Kerri_dfw, I got the dates wrong on the craft fair and it's actually sunday :( Oh well, I might get a NSD tomorrow instead! Oh and thank you for making everyone feel so welcome on the challenge thread, you've done a sterling job. :T:T:T I can't believe how many new members we've got today, I've had a look through and written the amounts down but will update and welcome them personally tomorrow as I really need to sleep now.

    Good night all xxx

    Sunday 27th November

Well it's been a while since i last posted in my diary but to be honest, the challenge is sooooooo fast moving that it's keeping me VERY busy, it's fantastic!!! :j

I've only got a couple of days now until payday but it's really doing my head in... I am on 12 NSD's so far and was on for my 13th yesterday but then halfway through cooking dinner, my sister and her boyfriend wanted some too so had to go out and by more potatoes and carrots for the caserole as there wouldn't be enough so my NSD was ruined by less than £5 :mad::mad::mad::mad:
Sunday is always a spendy day for me as I go out for my tea with my friend every Sunday evening. With so much MSEing then it's pretty much the only thing keeping me sociable...
However, this means then that Mon, Tues and Weds have to be NSD's for me to reach my target of 15 in November. Considering that it's my first ever bash at NSD's then I think I've done bloomin marvellously!!! December will be interesting though...

Well I have to say that despite how well the challenge is going and my good NSD totals that I am feeling a little dissappointed in myself... To pay off all my debt by Xmas 2012 then I need to be paying off/saving to pay off over £1100 per month. I allowed myself £500 spending money for food, fuel and pocket money but it's all gone and then some! I cannot really understand it as I am just one person so how can I have spent THAT much? I was really good at the beginning of the month and keep a spending diary but it pretty much went out of the window mid month when my friends dad died. I also know that I've been paying more than I really should on the family food bill as my sister and her boyfriend have stayed for the month. This and the Christmas pressies I've bought has probably added to the overspend. Oh and my dad left home mid week and that completely derailed me for a couple of days but he's come back and my parents are going to try and give it one last go. Meant buying lunch and tea for me and my mum for a few days as she was so upset.

Despite all these reasons though I am still dissappointed. I have a Christmas bonus coming this payday and it will help a lot but since i can only save £1000 out of my salary per month then the bonus over the year gives me the extra £100 per month I need to hit my target. I had over £140 of Ebay/Amazon sales this month too but it's just dissappeared in the above overspend. Normally I would be so annoyed with myself, I'd beat myself up about it then quit cos I'm just a failure again but instead I am mad  and even more determined to kick this debt booty into shape. I am going to list things on Ebay this afternoon, tidy my bedroom, go for a walk, eat something (might need to do this first as I've not had anything yet today...!) and then go out for dinner. Then maybe list more things on Ebay when I get back this evening if not all done. I just really need to make a list for the remaining Xmas pressies and decide what to get them before going on a shopping hunt then look for the cheapest way to get them.

Anyway, belly is starting to eat itself now cos I'm so hungry so see you all later xxx

Sorry to hear about your ma and pa but hopefully they can work it out!

I've neglected my diary too! Can't be bothered to update both that and the challenge board so I think I will just update the challenge board. I can read everyone's updates then too.

All we can do is try our best and pay off as much debt as possible. Don't beat yourself up if you don't make it.

I'm still going to have a life on mine........I have too! :D
    In debt no more!

  • Just read all the diary mf0u1098, you're doing a sterling job!

Wanted to pop by and say thanks for setting up the challenge, it's proving really popular.

I just spotted too that we have similar debts and are looking at paying off roughly the same each month - it's hard work isn't it!
