ooooh Erme the Pasrnip and Red Pepper one sounds delicious! It's a spend day for me tomorrow so will nip to the market and see if they have any of those broth bags for £1 as I already have red peppers and parsnips in.

My dad just asked me to meet him at the garage as he was dropping his car off for the early morning MOT and bought me a bar of chocolate (actually I got two cos my mum went with us and he thought it was for her but she'd bought her own). Don't feel too cheeky though as I pay for half the food bill each month and there are 3 of us and he ALWAYS drinks my beer. I love a glass of premium lager like Cusquena or Tsingtao but I think he believes the magic beer fairies kindly drop them in the fridge!

I think by now you will have gathered that I live at home. I lived in a city for over 10 years during and after uni but moved back home as my job location changed. I seriously debated moving in with my parents at 30 years old after living away for so long but it's not actually been too bad. It was definitely the right decision as funds were ridiculously tight and I didn't have a bean even on payday but now I am chucking huge amounts at my debts each month and then hopefully will save up for a deposit on a house at the same rate. It's really tough trying to buy a house when you're single as there are noone elses funds to go towards the deposit or the value you can borrow on the mortgage. It's really frustrating as it's so difficult to get on the property ladder these days and will take me twice as long as most couples... Sorry, rant over...

Right, enough of that, let's get back on topic. Tomorrow I'm going to go through my boxes from moving which are still piled in the spare room collecting dust and see what I don't use and see if it can be sold on ebay/amazon. Likewise, I'm going to go through all my books and cds/dvds too. I'm going to get my card making stuff out again and start making more christmas cards for family and friends.

Oooh need to update my calendar with my 4th NSD, I'm so proud as I've never stuck to something like this before and it feels so easy. Wish diets felt like this...

my DS firmly believed the food fairy kept the fridge and cupboards topped-up till he got a place of his own.
BTW, welcome to the DFD threads.

I have been looking at the £10 a day but it seems impossible. I've been reading several diaries on here about getting money for surveys and things but I don't know where to start. I think there is a section on the forum dedicated to them so I'll try and track it down.

Go for £5 a day then - lots of people do - and even if you don't make it then every penny is a penny you didn't have before. Try the Up Your Income board for ideas. Or the list at the beginning of the Make £10 a day thread. Lot's of ideas there. Good luck!

Can you please tell me where the wasting food one is? I am such a food waster it's scary!!! I only like fruit when it's hard and I will only eat meat up to one day after being bought etc. Luckily my parents like brown bananas and older food but still loads is wasted. I cringe to think what I have wasted in the past on food.

My DFD should have been 15th Aug 2014 (etched into my brain) but I can't stand this any longer and I know that with determination that I can do this. I just need to keep focused, keep motivated and remember everyday why I am doing this. I know that you can too, we just need to keep each other motivated! xxx

Absolutely. I am sure we will get there. I am going for a steady decrease as I know circumstances are changing in 6 months and I need to factor that in. :)

Thank you everyone! I think I'm definitely going to sign up for the £10/day challenge (but start at £5 to start). My mum and I are trying to work out how to split the no food waste challenge so I'll let you know how we get on!

Well last night I was on here reading forums and articles on upping my income etc until just before the forum went down at 1am for maintenance. I even started comping as you never know! When I finally turned off my laptop though my brain was fried and I had a banging headache so I think I officially got MSE overload... Still gave me some good ideas.

Today has been largely productive. I went to HSBC this morning to move my standing over for my loan to my main account so that my HSBC account has no standing orders or direct debits coming out of it and no overdraft so the money in there is literally just pocket money for the month.

I have been told of a benefits package with my employer where I get significant discounts on a huge range of products/retailers so ordered some Asda cards where I get 5% off, B&Q is 9% off, Love to shop is 8% etc and got my breakdown cover for 50% off. The money is topped up onto the cards online so the money I've saved will go towards my £5/per day Nov challenge. My mum and grandma also ordered some discounts cards through my so paid me in a LOT of change so my £2, £1 adn 20p coin challenges have skyrocketed today!!! Since I always pay online with a credit card then I will need to immediately transfer the same amount from my monthly budget account and live off what they gave me in cash.

I'm going to go through some things still in boxes from the spare room from moving back home and see if there is anything more I can put on Ebay/Amazon. I have a guitar including the carry case which I've never used so I'll see if I can put that on as collection only...? I've got some jigsaws of my grandmas that she doesn't want and they still are in great condition so just need to count the pieces and then get them online especially any christmas ones.

Finally, I think I'll check out the Etsy/Folksy thing as I'm quite creative and have been making my own cards and really enjoying it. Might see if there is a market out there to sell them. I actually found a fantastic craft shop near me and bought the shop! Since I was starting from scartch I bought a pack and I have enough things (card, embellishments, bows etc) to make 100's of cards. Since I started doing it for a hobby and I love it then making some money out of it would be a bonus.

Well my dad has gone out to see his "friend" grrrrrrrr and my mum and grandma have gone shopping which leaves me on here sat next to my tubs of coins with a manic grin on my face and wanting to laugh like Vincent Price! I remember the beer towers at uni, wouldn't it be amazing to make one out of coins???!!!! Might try filling my room with coins as the world's biggest piggy bank.

Anyway, I need to get things done so see you all later xxx

Ok so not a very good end to the day. Took my mum and grandma to Asda intending to only buy some chicken to put in a stir fry but it then became a "big shop". I bought lots of things on offer such as the half price Old El Paso Fajita meal kits that I have all the time so that was good even though I've now got 12 packs for £18 but at least it didn't cost £36 like it should! However... it was late so decided to use up some covent garden soup from the fridge and put some extras in there that I'd just bought and some fresh chicken and blended it (I prefer smooth soup). I lifted it up to put it in the pan when the bottom came off and it gushed EVERYWHERE!!!! It looked like someone had just vomited all over me and the kitchen. Even worse was that I was really looking forward to it and it was all wasted grrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    10, 9, 8, 7,.........2, 1......

    All better now!

I used my 5% Asda discount card and we had a £5 off a £40 spend coupon and then I used my Tesco Credit Card so I got points for shopping at Asda so not bad in the saving department.

Anyway, hope you all had a much better evening than me xxx
