New neighbours moving in next door - my nerves are beginning to shred.

Well, it has been 5 weeks since I posted about this, thought I'd do a bit of an update but start with a question.......
WHY US??
We have "door slammers". Well, it's mainly one of them, who insists on slamming every single door. When the other one is about, we barely hear her. The other, seems not so much to have a chip, but a huge potato on her shoulder.
Last night they decided to have a party. The music started up about 6.30, stopped for 2 hours, then started again. To be fair it wasn't blasting out, but the bass was turned up, so we could hear a low thumping noise that we could hear all the way through the house.
At 11.45pm, DH went round to ask if they could turn it down. He basically got told that "it wasn't loud nor was it too late to have music on" it then got turned off and DH had the door slammed in his face.
This morning we have had someone running up and down the stairs with pit boots on by the sounds of it. It's quiet now, because she has gone out, and the other lass is on her own atm.
I don't want any trouble, and I hate confrontation. All I want is a bit of piece. Is that too much to ask?

having had neighbour issues myself i completely sympathise with you and i wish you all the luck in the world in dealing with this. theres no right way of dealing with this other than to make sure that you try not to let it affect you too much. At the end of the day we can only ever really control what we do, the neighbours cant be controlled. I tried to speak to my neighbours and it seemed to have some effect, but I can never be sure as it may start up again at any point. Good luck and if you can try focus on de-stressing yourself as well, it may help0

OP, totally sympathise...our last neighbours were drug dealers, kept the hoover on for hours on end, ran up and down the stairs, slammed doors, verbally and physically threatened us and more or less made our lives hell.
But before they moved in we ad lovely neighbours who we got on great with - the only problem was the fella slammed doors usually at 5.30am on his way to work and ran up and down the stairs in his work boots.
At the beginning I was rather childish and thought it was done on purpose, so I retaliated and had on loud music and slammed my doors too.
Then one day we got chatting at her front door and she mentioned the loud music, I mentioned her husband slamming doors and that's why I played loud music...suffice to say we both went bright red.
The walls were very thin and you could hear a sneeze.
After that chat we all made the effort to keep noise to a minimum.
Perhaps you could nip round, mention the music last night and say you wouldn't like to get off on the wrong foot and point out that noise travels in your houses.
It's worth a shot.Stone walls do not a prison make, nor iron bars a cage.0
