well cookie (rip) was offered to me as a rehome as a hopefull friend for sunny, sunny didnt seemed interested or disinterested in cookie but they seemed to coincide well enough , then i got offered a rosella whom cookie seemed to fall for:eek: so rainbow joined the duo and they all seemed happy with cookie strutting his stuff, wolf whistling at all hours etc, thats why it was such a shock to find him dying:( vet said it was flu and you dont usually find out till its too late . when we came back rainbow was showing signs so vet gave her some antibiotics which fingers crossed seem to have worked ....
tragically though rainbow started wolf whistling when cookie died, it started off really quiet and now has advanced to full cookie like shrieks:eek: , i think she must be missing him:(
sunny however is same as everand doesnt seem to have noticed either arent in the cage, shes a bit like the rainman of the birdworld:o:rotfl:
have you considered getting a male bird for your girl? they can be enertaining in twos
(unless you get a sunny who is only happy if living in my jumper:o)
jo xx
Aww im so sorry for your loss, truly heart breaking when they go but there so loved.
Bella my girl is a rescue so im not sure what she would think to a male tiel.
She's just laid another egg:eek: shes very tired now, poor girl. Keeping a close eye on her though.0 -
Aww! So long as she has her food and calcium, I'm sure she'll be fine though.

Usually a clutch is about 4-7 eggs, with each egg laid every few days, so she might be there for a while yet.

Just as a little random extra, mirrors and petting her on her back and stomach can trigger hormonal behaviours and egg laying, if you weren't aware of that already!
I'd love to have a cockatiel, though the conure might not be too pleased, and not sure if we have the room for two big cages

Interesting, will keep my eye out for more eggs. Wow you've got a conure, have you got any pics?0 -
Sadly not on this laptop, not hip and with it enough for a phone with a camera and need to get batteries for the actual camera, wherever it may be... but he's a Red-rumped conure if you'd like to google images

our lovebird has batches of six ,not sure about cockatiels tbh but should imagine as said above its about the same.
i feel a bit upset for her tbh, imagining her on her eggs for years to come:eek: i know you can buy fake eggs to sbstitute them with but not sure if there is a point behind it? will have to ask daughter aka birdgirl (training to be zookeeper:o) as she is the one who reads up on everything as they are her birds ( 7 lovebirds, one rosella and now one cockatiel), my knowledge only comes from what she drums into me:o***MSE...My.Special.Escape***0 -

I to fell sad for Bella as her eggs won't hatch but shes busy sitting on them.
Have you got a male or female cockatiel?0 -
You might find she will lay more eggs every 1-2 days. She will incubate them until she realises they won't be hatching after about 25 days, some are a little more persistent though and stay a lot longer.
Some people like to hard boil the eggs then give them back to the hen just to make sure they don't rot or break when she's sitting on them.
Love cockatiels
I have six! And 2 conures and 2 budgies (slightly bird-mad maybe) 0
