Does anyone have any experience of their cockatiel doing the same? my girls a rescue so not sure how old she is but it could well be her first lay. I didn't know she had laid the egg until i picked her up  is there anything i should be doing?

Don't worry, its normal, they'll do this regularly!

I remember feeling pretty shocked and fascinated the first time too, couldn't believe how little and cute they were. You don't need to do anything.

a friend of mine has cockitels and she has to feed hers a suppliement of calcium, as I think it uses quite a bit and can effect them, if you are not careful.

Cuttlebone is a good source of calcium.

They never bothered, maybe they were unfit mothers!

Do you have any books about Cockatiels? I'm not really an expert, its years since I had one and I was kind of winging it then (gettit, gettit!).

Popping to the library is probably not a bad idea, you don't want any more surprises!
