Does anyone have any experience of their cockatiel doing the same? my girls a rescue so not sure how old she is but it could well be her first lay. I didn't know she had laid the egg until i picked her up  is there anything i should be doing?

Don't worry, its normal, they'll do this regularly!
I remember feeling pretty shocked and fascinated the first time too, couldn't believe how little and cute they were. You don't need to do anything.0 -
a friend of mine has cockitels and she has to feed hers a suppliement of calcium, as I think it uses quite a bit and can effect them, if you are not careful.0

They never bothered, maybe they were unfit mothers!
Do you have any books about Cockatiels? I'm not really an expert, its years since I had one and I was kind of winging it then (gettit, gettit!).0 -
