I seem to be in the minority here in saying that the OP thought he was buying a branded item, and got an unbranded one. Whether it was produced in the same factory or not - that still makes it a fake branded product. OP, you should still contact the seller though, and explain why you are unhappy and give them an opportunity to sort it out.

Let's be realistic here... We're not talking about a fake iPhone or a fake pair of Ugg boots where the quality difference between genuine and fake is massive. We're talking about a cheap/tacky gizmo that is still cheap/tacky even with a cheap/tacky Science Museum logo stuck on it. Do the Science Museum ones sell for a lot more than the non Science Museum ones? I doubt it!! Just because it has a Science Museum logo stuck on it, it doesn't massively increase it's value!!

Now the OP wanted/expected a Science Museum version so received an item not as described. The options are to contact the seller and ask for a refund or raise a SNAD case. In both cases the OP will have to pay for the return postage. They can ask for the seller to refund postage or they can file a small claims to get that money back - neither seem likely.

Its bad, it's wrong and it sucks but unfortunately that's the reality. Leave the appropriate feedback and move on.

No, it makes it not as described, the missing logo may mean something to the op, fair enough, but there is nothing fake about it. It is an unbranded product, sold by a reputable seller, I see nothing to dispute it's not what the seller say's it is, the missing logo makes it not as described and this should be the basis of the complaint.
fakes are copies of designer brand's, the whole idea of a fake is to brand it to make it look like something it's not.

you could contact the seller and ask him to send you a Science Museum badge and a small tube of super-glue ?? :)

  • The seller's return policy is very poor (and illegal), this is the issue that comes from buying with such sellers and with those terms I think you'll find it difficult to reach any comprise with the seller that satisfies you as a buyer.

Technically you are entitled to tell the seller you've changed your mind and wish to cancel, that you require a full refund asap and at least within 30 days of your email and that the item is awaiting their collection, however enforcing this may be difficult, I'd contact trading standards and see what they say.
