Then perhaps a sweet tea and buttered toast with jam will provide as many sugars as you will need for a 5 hour shift?

And a 9-5? Two sweet teas and two buttered toast with jam?

    Come on!!

But OP has only done 5 hours and has had to carry some shelves upstairs. Not exactly working on an oil rig I am sure. The 9-5 is purely hypothetical at this point.

Over a hundred Metal shelves 6 foot tall up two flights of stairs. No lift.

    This is a fallacious argument.

A fit individual is more than capable of working at virtually full capacity for over 12 hours without food. (Water is required). I think you have been listening to too much of the stuff they tell you at the Gym or in fitness magazines.

But as you have already said, you haven't worked 9-5, you have worked 5 hours. And yes, in a normal working day why wouldn't that suffice? Have a large, healthy breakfast such as porrige & fruit and then a carb heavy meal such as pasta, potatoes & veg in the evening.

And this is why employers seem to prefer migrant worker, I'm not saying that it's right just that it happens.

It's voluntry, so you must have some sort of say in what you do.
If you don't like it then just leave, surely.

And presumably you could work your 5 hours and then have a sit down meal before going to the gym?

No-one can work at full capacity for 12 hours. Learn some basic physiology.

I know I didn't do a 9-5. But if I did, I still would not get a break. No-one in that place gets a break. And I need to eat or I get ill. You depress me.:(

I depress you, because you can't work for 5 hours without a hot meal:rotfl:

How exactly do you know that no-one gets a break who works 6 or more hours? If the boss told you this then do speak to the JC, but if it is just your assumption because you saw people stay at their work stations (not uncommon) then perhaps you should cross that bridge if/when you come to it.

Why fallacious? The post I referred to was about someone's OH doing a physical job all day and needing feeding. You have worked 5 hours carrying shelves up stairs. 100 shelves, say 5 at a time is 20 trips up 2 flights in 5 hours. 15 minutes a go for 2 flights, not so bad really. You will get good quads in 4 weeks!
