After reading up a lot today, and taking insurance into consideration it'll take something amazing to bear the 1.4 Leon http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201144425274993/sort/priceasc/usedcars/price-to/2000/colour/black/engine-size-cars/1-4l_to_1-6l/maximum-age/up_to_10_years_old/model/leon/make/seat/page/1/radius/1500/postcode/wv46ee?logcode=p
Looks nice that but what does Cat D mean?0 -
cat D means it's been written off. That could be stolen recovered, a large amount of repairable damage, or a small amount of damage but it wasn't cost effective for the insurance to repair it.
For example, if a car is worth £1750, has a slight bump but needs a new bumper and a headlight, the insurance will cost it up and it could be:
bumper - £400
Paint - £50
Labour charge - £200
Hire car charges - £300
headlight - £120
Total cost - £1170
and write it off as a cat D as it's not cost effective for them to repair it.0 -
Thanks for that, I'll look out for that in the future and will ask why it's a cat d if I come across one.0
