I'd love a Kindle.... sigh ..... but I don't need one. I've nearly bought one at least 20 times this year and have always managed to talk myself out of it.

I spend a fair bit on books (do use the library too) so the BAD part of me is saying this would save money .... I must resist!

Mantra to self .... Need / Want, Need / Want, Need / Want, Need / Want, Need / Want, Need / Want ........

You know, the wonderful Flying Fresian wanted a Kindle very badly too, and set herself a challenge of earning the value of a Kindle in Amazon vouchers by doing surveys etc. so that she got what she wanted, but didn't have to 'pay' for it, as such. Perhaps you could join some of the same survey sites as she did and earn a Kindle in the same way: it would be a nice challenge with a great reward! Go visit her on her thread and ask her nicely to refer you so that she can get some extra credit for referring you - it would be a nice reward for her for coming up with the idea!

Oh dear Rising, I expect it is job worries stopping you sleeping, I really hope all pans out ok for you. Whatever happens you are in the best position you could be with your preparation. It sounds trite I know, and easier said than done, but do try not to worry about things you can't change.

Agree re: the after work stomp being a great way to vent and wind down after work, and having someone in the house to moan at, even better someone who doesn't interrupt, sending you suitable dog vibes down the tinternet. I really hope you find a suitable doggy friend soon.

Thank you Pickle ..... I did eventually get a Kindle:o and got quite a good deal on it - started off @ £89 but Mr T had £10 off a £75 spend and then used Club*card points to get it down to £63:j.

I can honestly say it's one of the (few) things that I can say has been money well spent - I use it nearly every day and it's so handy being able to take just one "book" when going to hospital appts etc and not having to worry you'll finish it if your nearly at the end of your book!:D

I do know the wonderful Flying (and did get a referral from her to a survey site which earned a few points for her ;)) - we live not too far from each other so have met for coffee ... which has reminded me that I need to re-arrange our last one as we were due to meet up along with another MSEr at beg Feb but had to cancel due to the weather.

Thanks SOT .... you're probably right about the work / sleeping thing - I'm trying to go with the "there's nothing I can do about it" theory but it's hard ...... appreciate the doggy vibes too:) (and you're so right about having someone to moan at who listens to every word without interrupting or complaining;)) ..... please give yours an extra big cuddle from me tonight :)

Evening everyone, I'm back........finally, this month has been quite difficult and after such a difficult January I got a bit down and let things get on top of me a bit to much. I think MSE would have helped but just could not access the site. Even on my computer it could take half an hour just to read a couple of pages and make a small post which just got so frustrating. I just haven't down as much DF related things as i had planned to which means i'm a bit behind on my to do lists and I have a spendy confession to make. My OH brought me a new laptop today which was money spent that I didn't have allocated:eek: but i can't be annoyed at him because he had seen how down and frustrated I had been due to lack of computer and so he went and got me one. I should be frantically rebudgeting and feeling annoyed at the unexpected cost but I don't:o is that bad of me? I am so happy that i have a laptop that actually works without having to be plugged in, doesn't weigh a ton and has all new fast programmes on it and the best part of all is that I can FINALLY access MSE:j it has been toooooooo long and It has made me realise just how much MSE and all you lovely people on here keeps me motivated :T I can't wait to transfer all my old lists/spreadsheets and get on top of everything again. Hopefully March should be a much better month:) and now I'm off to see if there are any pennies/pounds that are waiting to be transfered into savings:D

Lovely to see you back QueenB :T. I'm sorry to hear you couldn't get on the site and that things have not been the best for you.

 re laptop, but if it gets you back up to speed and having access to what you need/want then is money well spent in my opinion (for all that counts) I do know if my laptop went south I would not be waiting long before getting a new one. Though it may take a while to balance the budgets, if you use it daily or thereabouts and it makes things easier then value for money over its life will be balanced out.

Rising - Tummy tickle also given on your behalf, I told her it was from her new friend Rising, and she looked around as if someone was just about to walk in the room x

Thanks SOT2011, I think you are right. My old lappy was on throughout the day and as this one is much better and faster and full of new things to explore I can see me getting my moneys worth quite quickly.

I think he got a good deal and it should meet all my needs so having to rebudget is worth it.
