  • Rising well done on the budget, that's great considering you bulk bought on groceries too :)

Well the health visitor weighed Eliza, she only gained 40% of the weight she's lost... but her upset tummy might have something to do with that. So they will keep a closer eye on her weight just in case.

Thanks ... the grocery one is well over tho:( but I personally feel much more comfortable taking the hit now and balancing it out later in the year.

ETA: I've done a full budget update in my diary - sure no-one will be interested ... but, just in case, http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=50646637&postcount=75

Hope Eliza's poorly tummy settles down soon, poor wee lamb ....

Great news on the budget Rising & even better news BiB!

Hope Eliza's tummy settles soon, but glad to hear the antibiotics have at least worked on the orriginal problem.

Glad your new dog is settling in Sam, wishing you many happy walks and games together!

Good news with my dog as she has slept right through two nights in a row for the first time in 3 weeks or so so hopefully we have sorted that problem and can both catch up on lost sleep :-)

Found out today that transfer of equity will complete next week. Am really pleased that that will be out of the way but has been an odd few days with people all asking me what will I do.

I'm not from round here, live quite a way from work and have no real friends here, though I chat to a fair few people with dogs! Been here 5 years now and before I lived in west Yorkshire, but family are all down south. Hadn't really thought of anything except maybe moving closer to work but their questions have got me pondering, and feeling pretty unsettled too.

    Take care all

  • I need to view my spreadsheets soon... not done that since Thursday. I always do it daily (check my accounts too, as I don't keep money in my current account, and dont get charged for using my overdraft if I come put of it within 48 hours) so feeling a bit in limbo.

But instead DS needs to see a Dr today, he's got a virus, and when he has one he gets sharp pains near his heart. They've checked him so many times and its nothing serious, they suspect its muscular. But they have said he'd be referred to a pediatrician if it keeps happening.

Rising your grocery budget didn't look too bad (yes i read the link!) considering, and I did that last year and it saved me a fortune overall :)

Eliza's tummy will be fine come Friday (last dose of antibiotics is thursday AM)

SOT I'm glad you've caught up on your sleep now x

Good luck deciding what to do ref moving.

  • Hi everyone, I've had a totally hectic 10 days so no chance to check in and it's taken me most of the day on and off to catch up with everything and everyone.

Hope everyone who hasn't been 100% healthwise is now feeling a bit better, and JG hope you've managed to catch up on some kip.

Glad Lucy has worked oput as a good addition to the samtoby household, and Rising, you're right, take your time and don't rush into another dog. Make the right choice, you'll just know. DH waited over 2 years and then we bought one with three legs :p One of the best things we ever did...

SOT, I can empathise with your dog situation. SD (small dog) is coming up 13 and I think she's going a bit senile. She does similar things to yours, usually between 2.30 and 4am. It used to be once in a while but it's alomst every night now so I'm taking her to the vet to see if theres anything that will help her settle.

I'm still very happy with my new bank. I opened my regular saver account this morning and made my first deposit. I've also marked in my diary to find a new account for it all in 12 months time once it reverts to a normal account - how organised!

Progress has been made with Mr Diz. You may recall we have a ridiculous number of vehicles the Dizzy household (and there's only 2 of us so in all reality, we can only drive 2 at any one given moment). He conceded that I was right, so before he could change his mind I have listed one for sale in the local paper this week.

It's the newest of the cars too, so I'm hoping it will sell easily as it will be a massive boost to the savings. I've vacuumed it out today and put a smelly freshener in it, polish the inside tomorrow, it's too cold today. As it's a 4WD I'm actually praying for snow - it might sell easier then :)

Queen B, I recorded Superscrimpers and as yet haven't watched it. I'm going to try and make time tonight...

Hi Dizzy ~ is your new regular saver with F*rst D*rect per chance? Only asking becaause if so, at the end of the 12 months when thay add the interest and transfer it to an 'ordinary account' you can then open a new regular saver and start again :D

If it wasn't FD then please completely ignore me!

  • Hi saorsie, yes it is indeed FD.

I have JG to thank for the info on the rather tasty 8% interest and I've changed my current account from NW to FD.

I sort of realised I could open another Regular Saver, but are the interest rates always as good as this??

  • My RS with FD just matured, as the 8% offer is still available i'm opening a new one to re-invest the money I just saved as its the best return. Only this year I've got DH opening one to...

Glad to see you back dizzy. So glad your DH agreed to sell a car :)

^^^^^^ as above Dizzy ~ whilst they're offerng I'm doing, not sure if it's a permanent thing but it's the best whilst it's about.

    Fingers crossed for the car

JG ~ have loved hearing of your mummy tales ~ Roo looks a truely beautiful baby and was obviously well worth waiting for :)

A car is just the start. He's agreed to sell the tractor too!!! :rotfl:

I'll have to keep my fingers crossed that in 12 months time there's as good an offer as there is now, but regardless £124 interest after tax... Very nice thank you!!!
