Sam I am sure your friend will gratefully recieve your gift. In Germany giving money as a gift is normal... they fold the money into butterflies and attach it to a pot plant, the celophane the plant and dress with ribbon. I think you can give less because you took the time and effort to make something
Eliza's future god parents have two sausage dogs... they are so cute! My cats avoid them, but are not terrified of them like they are a normal dog. I hope you enjoy her
You're doing so well with your spreadsheet... i've never attempted a pie chart!!!! Glad the savings are going well. DH parents gave us money as a wedding gift... we've set it aside for stamp duty and other 'costs' because they sure add up.
Still crossing fingers about your job x
Eliza is doing so well, She's beautifulCan't believe she's 2 weeks old tomorrow!!
I ordered photo's tuesday night... they arrived today... already in picture frames, I have about 50+ photo frames around the house... she just got 10 of them... I feel like my house is more homely now her photos are up
Oh and DS gift arrived... i've wrapped it and hidden it in Eliza's blanket for him to 'find' laterWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Hi all, thanks again for the kind "dog" words .... I do firmly believe it'd be better to wait 6 months for the right one (hopefully not!) than make a mistake. I am hoping to have whoever it is for a long time so it's really important to get it right .......
I'm having huge ISP issues - wants a password but won't accept the one on the "remember me" option (and I won't have changed it as it's the one I signed up to the ISP with many years ago). It has taken it on the big pooter (not very well & rarely used now) so hoping I'll be able to sort the lappy soon.
Really odd having to use a mouse rather than the touch-pad!
Apparently much is afoot at my workplace and more redundancies are unfortunately looming ..... have been having a look around but there was 2 (yes 2) last week in the whole county! Another joy of living in a rural area. Really worried as being single, there's no-one to fall back on / being able to make cuts & manage on one salary for a few months if one partner loses their job.
There is a city within commuting distance but quite far and with my medical problems it's just not possible for me to travel that far.....
Pay day tomorrow .... will need to do some hard jiggling this month I think.
Think the lines need to be drawn ever tighter and back to an absolutely essential only spending routine just in case the worst happens. I just hope I've got a while to a) build up some savings b) find something else.
Sorry a depressing post.

I think it might be the new updated site aswell, especially as I mainly access the internet through my very old laptop which needs a ton of updates. I really hope it sorts itself out and soon.
JulieG, i bet you can't wait to see DS face when he finds his gift.
I lived in Cyprus for part of my childhood and they pin money on a bride there, tradition also used to state that the father of the bride had to build/buy the new couple a house and put some furniture in it. My dad was always being told how expensive it was for him to have three daughters lol.
Sam good luck with Lucy and the cat I'm sure it will be ok but take time for them to get used to each other. My cats are now so stuck in their ways that i think they would try and kill any dog we brought home so its not a choice for us though OH would like one. I used to have a cat that would attack and chase any dog that came near our house, we had owners complain that they couldn't walk their dogs down our street, very naughty of her but quite amusing to watch.
JulieG thats a lot of egges but they could make lots of meals and you could chop up some of those lemons and freeze them.
So excited DD is back from holiday tonight, she went to Italy for a week with her Boyfriend and although she has been emailing me daily it will be good to see her, her brothers are extremely excited not sure DS1 will even get to sleep until she actually gets in, can't wait to see all her photos.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Rising when there was talk about redundancy where i worked, thats when i cut back to the bare bones... it helped me save for 6 months, then once i was redundant I coped until a temp job came up. It's scary, but everything happens for a reason... just takes a while to know what the reason is.
QueenB sounds like DD was missed, and I would love to go to italy.
Well DH said he'd make time to make 2 lemon drizzel cakes a night until we have 8 in the freezer, 1 for lunchboxes... 8 eggs left for the weekend.
DS loved his gift, his eyes lit up when he saw it... was do proud and hung it in his room right away. Eliza had a bath, and aftee I gave her skin to skin... DS wanted a cuddle so told him to take his top off and he could do skin to skin... omg he loved it... did his reading while cuddling... I got some wonderful photo's of the two of themWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Rising ((((((hugs)))))) thats not good news but all you can do is prepare as best you can if the worst happens. I agree with JulieG that everything happens for a reason, just that it can take time to understand the reason. I hope everything goes ok for you.
JulieG Once again all i can say is how adorable your DS is. Thess times are the precious ones. I love Italy I have travelled around it a bit but haven't been for a few years. DD worked hard and saved to take her BF there for his 21st. The strange thing was that last time i was in Rome i turned a corner and got caught in a full on riot, that really challenged my college level Italian to get through, ealier this week DD and her BF got caught up unexpectantly in a huge protest that ended up on Italian TV (they went to Venice). Things like that always happen to our family lol.
This week hasn't been the most productive money saving wise due to all the health issues but I have a few days of January left to get those final things ticked off my to do list. Plus reached me NSD target today.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Hi all.
Up late tonight - just waiting for bank to update to jig money about and tweak the old spreadsheets. I took part in the Strike back in November, so that will be reflected in this month's salary. Since HBOS and Lloyds started sharing the same platform usually updates around about 10pm, but seems to be running later tonight.
Going to give up and go to sleep soon - otherwise will be crabby in the morning. (What's new!?!).
Lunch with a friend tomorrow, and it's my turn to pay for the cakes. It's my shortest working day tho' so only an hour to do after lunch (all being well).
It's almost the weekend!
Night all.

Morning everyone.
Well I am a bit of a panic. I have to pay a bill today to the tax man and I can't find the payment slips they sent us out a few weeks ago. I have looked verywhere and can't find them. I am normally so organised with this kind of thing and whilst I'm worried about how to pay them, hopefully we can phone and explain/pay on the phone, I am also panicking about the fact that maybe its been thrown away. That would be awful but these last few weeks have been so exhausting I might have done so by accident.

Where is everyone??? Seems so quiet??
QueenB I hate when I misplace/throw away important paperwork... makes me feel sick to my tummy! Like when i couldn't find proof of my wedding bans the day before the wedding (ends up I threw it away!!! Was a sign... should have listened! It was my wedding to my ex BTW), but these things are normally okay in the end xxx

Not good.
Don't panic QueenB, you can make payments through your bank account either online or by telephone banking and you don't need your payslip for those. You only need your UTR which you will have on other paperwork. Check the HMRC website for payment instructionsMortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
