  • I only buy £2 fresh veg for the rabbita a week, rabbit pellets and cat hard/wet food with the food shop. I have a seperate budget for jabs/flea/worm (£26pm) and one for hay/sawdust (£8) and then insurance for the cats (£26pm)!!!

Rising I find if you overfill pots a tiny bit it does help... I panic when I've striped all of them down to bare essentials though... that's scary! I think the more worried you are the more you stare at the spreadsheets.

:rotfl: Or create lists and files:rotfl:

I have spent so long this evening creating a list of all my smellies and I am really shocked:eek:at how much we have. I have no idea how we will get through it all, haven't even looked in my dressing table yet, just the bathroom. The upside, shouldn't have to spend to much for at least a few months and get to have more indulgent baths as an excuse to use up bits before they go out of date:D

Whilst it took me ages to put together, looking at it is really quite relaxing...........I love feeling organised:j

What a lovely surprise QueenB... its nice to be able to save money unexpectedly :)

I booked my flights for my holiday in July. Saved more money paying by debit card. A month ago I was expecting to pay £550+ and I had £400 budgeted, I paid £330 :) also got insurance via a link from martin, £15! The company quoted £50 when I went to them direct, and for less cover. So with the money saved £15 will go to a friends son, who I hope will look after my pets for extra pocket money. That's £40 left, I decided that can be travel money :)

I'm so excited... 6 months and counting!

I've not had a proper holiday in years and years! And £1k for everything (flights, travel, spending, food) for 2.5 weeks is my kind of holiday :)

JulieG It seems that everytime i save money i end up having to spend the savings and more somewhere else. I will definitely have to buy a new TV, and within the next couple of days. The whole of the screen is now green with just a small circle of normal image in the centre no bigger than my hand. Whilst its been amusing watching TV with everyone looking like Shrek i don't think its good for us or the TV:rotfl: add to that having to buy new school trousers for DS1 and my usual NSD will have to turn into a spendy day:( January is no longer on my HM christmas card list:D

Congrats on all your holiday savings:T, I must get planning our family holiday soon, I don't think we will be able to afford a trip abroad this year but I am planning to take them next year. I am hoping to book a cottage or something in Cornwall in April as it will be DS1 13th birthday (same week as Easter as he was born on a good Friday) and I thought it would be a nice memory for him and a good break for us. Though he did say he would like to go to Paris to see the Eiffel tower not that he would go up it.........or me, hate heights.

I have lots of baking to do today, got to use up some bananas.

    Have a great Tuesday everyone:)

Forgot to add I have been looking at Norway lately, Went to Finland a few years back and loved it so I'm looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back.

  • We have friends in Norway, which is the only reason we can afford to go. They live in the mountains and own a sheep farm, add that they have a cottage with no electricity but a lake to swim in... I am going to LOVE it :D

I'm sorry to hear about the TV, ours did the same thing (it was 12 years old though)... I got one through work with a 5 year warentee (paid £600 for 42") and now I wish i had gotten the smaller one at half the price with 3 year warentee. But figured both cost the same per year IYSWIM.

Clubcard vouchers can got you free underground tickets... and Eurostar... maybe you could take him if you save?? Cornwall sounds nice... I love cottages :D

I hate January - car tax, breakdown cover, service & (next year also MOT) all due. Thankfully will have enough money to cover them with a bit extra to the pot in Jan & Feb and some careful planning with cut off days on the cc card but hate the thought of the pot being totally emptied - even though everything will be covered until next year ..... is that nuts?

I'm way behind on the thread - doesn't it move fast!

Thanks for all the advice especially the reminder to pop over to the old style for tips. Been telling ex-oh about it but forgot to use it myself!

Hope dog visiting goes well Rising! How exciting!

To join in the pet food topic a bit late, luckily my dog is only little and takes 5 months to eat a 15kg bag. I get her dry food made locally in Bolton that she seems to like, a bit more expensive than some, but having given away nearly whole bags of both cheaper and more expensive stuff (James WBLVD!) I am sticking with what works. She does have a fair few treats, fresh chicken to brighten up her tea etc though.

I am absolutely terrified :o - how will I know? what if I make the wrong decision?

I guess I'm struggling a bit still with the thought of another dog .... I've had other dogs in the past (all loved and special in their own ways) but Ben really was my "one" IYKWIM. I don't know how on earth I'm going to know if [STRIKE]this [/STRIKE]any dog is the right one.....
