Forgot ....:o good thing about today:
New vets opened nearby (been wanting to change as not 100% happy with some things that happened when I lost the dog) .....
Big cat had his booster at my current vet just before Christmas and it was £49.85:eek:.
Wee cat now due & rang the new place and it was £39.99 (slightly better) but they're doing an opening offer of 50% off .... so will be £20:).
Just need to pluck up the courage to take her - she turns into monster cat away from home (stress, poor wee lamb) and it really is a case of the thick gloves for the poor vet.... I dread it every year (and she's also "unwell at both ends" in the car) so a thoroughly unhappy experience for everyone involved.Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000

Rising, did you ask for the tread readings on the tyres? I was told mine needed changing last year and they were 3mm, legal minimum is 1.6mm i got 4 months out of them by checking them myself and changing them at about 1.8mm!We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240

I pay £44 for cat booster last time... disgustingly expensive!
I'm glad you got a new vets, hope they are good x

Yup .... unfortunately one of the front ones is only at 1.8mm - the other is 2.3mm so will need done soon and tbh, if I have to change them, I always do in sets of both front or back (helps grip / esp in icey weather!).
It should be OK for a couple of weeks at a push but will have a hunt around tomorrow/Saturday as I'm going up to Edinburgh on Sunday (meeting a couple of fellow MSEers for coffee:)) so may well find some cheaper up there compared to down here as there's more competition - and .... seeing as I'm using the fuel anyway
Plucking up courage to update the totals in my sig - which will now be way over budget!:(Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Oh, poor Rising. Another rotten day. Ok, well maybe February will be better tomorrow? I hope you have some joy finding a good price for tyres. Like you say in an area where there's a bit more competition the prices may be keener. Trouble is, tyres really need doing don't they, both from a safety and legal point of view.
Good news on the vets though. I hope that your little lady doesn't object too much this time, poor her and poor you.
I've woken up this morning with what I think is ezcema on my eyelidsNever had it before in my life, so no idea where it's come from but don't like it, it's really sore and prickly. If it's still there after the weekend i might pop to the GPs and see if there's anything I can do to ease it.
It's my weigh in tomorrow for SW and on Saturday I'll be up to 4 weeks cigarette free!!!
Called into B**ts earlier to get a hair colour (can't put it off any longer) and missed the promotion that had a 1/3 off the price. Drat it. Sadly all the local ones are teeny shops and don't do my brand / colour so can only get it when I go to the bigger towns. As it's 45 mins I don't make the journey unless it's essential. Anyway, off to conceal these [STRIKE]grey hairs [/STRIKE]natural highlights! :rotfl:I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
Oooh dear, there does seem to be quite a bit of expense about for many of us. Somedays it does feel like a constant battle to keep on top of it all.
I have a boiler service, dog booster needed, dog hair cut (twice the cost of mine now I have cut mine down to a wet cut with no blow dry  didn't feel quite so bad when hers was only £2 more expensive!) and car service coming up in the next few weeks and though I have budgeted for them all, that is only for the expected amounts.
The first three should be ok as the boiler is in warranty and the dog costs budget is looking healthy at the moment as I do know in advance roughly what they will be, but if there is anything big for the car (like brakes or tyres in particular) the budget will be sorely stretched at that point as, like Rising, my buffer funds are not yet where I want them to be to cover with this sort of expense.....17" alloys seemed like such a great idea in pre-MSE days :rotfl:
Hope the colour goes on well LBD - I used a different brand recently because the usual one wasn't on offer, but the colour wasn't quite what I was expecting, though I love it now, it was a little alarming at the time, and I will be keeping an eye out for the old brand for next time. Also big congrats on the smoke-freeness!
Hugs Rising, I shall keep my fingers crossed that February improves for you from now on.
Transfer of Equity is still on track to complete next week. Transferred a scary amount of money to the solicitors today - I knew it was going to have to go to them soon, but it still felt like a lovely safety net sat in my savings account for a while, so that should be done and dusted by this time next week, and our financials will be officially separated, although in reality we are still partially (but not at all financially) linked due to the small dog.
SOT xDebt Free since Nov 11 (ish) (except the £118000 mortgage) as at Jan 2013 but still hanging around DFW as I need to Stay On Track.

Is there a long haul savers thread I wonder? I really need to save as much as possible in case of anything going wrong in these uncertain times.0

Fingers crossed that the ToE goes smoothly. I know what you mean about safety nets and savings. Nice to be able to 'see' it!!!
As for the colour, I'll let you know. After MANY mistakes, I've found a colour that works well but I got a bit distracted watching Corrie and it was on for over 20 mins rather than 10 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I'll know more when it dries...Life has been a bit manic but got some good news on the job front, I was matched to my job so I can relax a bit, not on the scrap heap yet ! :T
