Do things in your own time and in your own way :grouphug:
Exactly (only minus the dodgy hug!)JulieG. I am loving being a SAHM. yet there is so much prejudice out there towards SAHMs. I worked in education (and will return when ready) and one day I just realised that I was spending more quality time with other peoples kids and knew more about their lives than I was with my own and that was just wrong. But I still get those looks when I say I am a SAHM and then comes the usual question of don't you get bored. As if LOL, I think i may be busier now than when I was working the main difference being that its busy doing what I want to do for myself and my family. I also know I am blessed to have a wonderful OH who works hard so that this can be our reality:). I love the simplier life that has come with the DFW journey and the lessons we have learnt (though i have always loved the simple things). The other week we decided we where all going to get up and watch the sunrise and my boys got so excited that they woke us up before the alarm and rushed out into the garden before I was even downstairs:rotfl:We are making memories now not debts:cool:
I agree about the predudice... and it works both ways. My mum and I never saw eye to eye because I worked and had a career... she thought I was selfish and that I was better then her. Now she thinks I have my priorities straight. Truth is I always did, I just worked out of nessessity.
Now being a SAHM I have lost a friend or two or more... they don't think I have anything of importance to say... their loss!
I love your story about the sunrise... I hope to make many memories like that... isn't that what life is about. When it comes to the end, it's know you made the most of it and you did what made you happyWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. I don't and I'm happy! Mortgage Free Wannabe :dance:Overpayments Made: £5400 - Interest Saved: £11,550 - Months Saved: 240 -

Wow QueenB that is some list! I just did my SOA recently! Nothing left to cut (apart from water, which I am fighting to get my meter)!
I do see what you mean now

Exactly, I remember when I was struggling with the idea of becoming a SAHM and someone said to me that when you walk around a graveyard (morbid but stay with me:D) you don't see all the details of peoples jobs and education. The inscriptions all relate to relationships. Money is necessary, but it should not be the main focus.........i know seems strange to say when we have all spent so long becoming Df and are all so focused on staying that way.
But each of the simple things have become even more special now because i don't have the nagging money worries in the back of my mind.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Gosh, it's been busy on here tonight!
QueenB, hooray, great list! I did mine today too and now we just have to stick to them. I'm really impressed that your doing lists by months - I did mine for the year, reckon there's more chance of a degree of success that way!!!
Aly, how was the pub quiz? Did the lucky streak continue? I really hope you do continue to post, I think the key is to do what is right for you to stay DF. For me, I got a bit spend happy once I 'had money' again, and found that a) this thread and b) my spreadsheets reined me in a bit I suppose. That said, my spreadsheet is dead basic. In / Out. I have a sheet for grocery spends as I'm a dreadful cook and do get carried away in the super-m's, (tonights dinner was an epic fail, but that's another story) but this is only a total spend figure.
I also needed the encouragment to set targets and goals for myself, thanks JG! Paying back the debts was the target in itself, once I'd done it I sort of got a bit lost and frivolous...
Roo, I'm thinking that your Mummy maybe doesn't pass the messages on so this is direct to you! It's probably very warm & comfy where you are, but your Mummy and Daddy and very smart BB are all waiting to meet you, and we'd quite like a piccy too so you should come and say hello... JG; good luck tomorrow for your sweep (still none the wisder but get the general drift!)
Altheavlive, many, many congratulations on making it to debt freedom! I hope that the job contract turns something up for you - is there any chance it will be extended?
Have taken myself off to bed with the lappy as DH is watching damn football . Not that there was anything I really wanted to watch but he could have asked. Although, maybe it was payback for the shocking trash I served up earlier...I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -

I have a yearly one aswell (i do looooooove lists:o:rotfl:) but to be able to meet my yearly targets i have monthly ones that are the small steps needed to achieve big yearly ones........does that make sense (very tired tonight) Plus I find that if i don't have something to do weekly/monthly i can lose motivation and put things off so this way i keep working at what i need to and keep my targets fresh in my mind.Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. It makes perfect sense! Having something which is achiveable in a short space of time spurs you on to do more, my only worry with a monthly list is that I'd blink and another month would have flown past!!!
Today wasn't an AFD (alcohol free day, 3 p/wk is my target) I did have a glass or 3 of wine, but Mon & Tues were AFD's so that bit of my target is nearly done for this week. I still haven't had a ciggie though - pretty chuffed with myself!I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions...0 -
