What price did you try selling it for then?

If its has no mot or tax then no one can legally test drive it when they come to view so its all a bit of a gamble so you should expect a lot less than the market value.

I would either sell it for spares or repairs and hope to get more than scrape value or ring around for a MOT centre that can recover it for you as you cant legally drive it on the road to get an MOT.

You could buy a days insurance for £25 and book it into an MOT yourself and drive it back the same day that may be a better option, although with completing a SORN i am not sure you can even drive it without re-taxing it.

    So much miss information here.

    Paragraph 1 OK

You can drive a car without an MOT to a pre booked MOT, you can even drive it back home again if it has failed, as long as it is not very dangerous.

You need the car insured to do this, but you don't need the MOT for the insurance to be valid.

A SORN car can be insured. You clearly can't tax a car with out a MOT so how would you get it off a SORN before taking to the MOT?
  • Read my last paragraph again.

I know you can drive a un mot'd car to and from a pre booked mot and i know you can insure a sorn'd car but i dont know if you can drive a un mot'd, insured sorn'd car to a pre booked mot....and i dont even know why i bother explaining myself....

    good night.

You cant tax it without an MOT and I didnt say you can.

    :rotfl::rotfl:

I never said you did say that, but you start by saying you can't drive it legally without an MOT, then you say to get insurance to drive it to an MOT station. You finish by then saying you can't drive it without re taxing, see where you went wrong lol.

Everything you have just said in the last few posts has contradicted itself within the same post............:T:T:T:T

Just to clarify you can't get tax for a car until it has an MOT, you can't unsorn a car until you buy tax, insurance can be bought regardless of MOT/SORN/TAX status.

Going by your method to get the car to the MOT station would require you MOT it without it leaving your drive, tax it then insure it then as long as you pre-book the MOT you can drive to the MOT station to get an MOT you don't need, and if it fails the MOT it has already passed to get the MOT certificate you already have you can drive it home. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

no he was saying he wasn't sure if you could drive it while it's SORN'ed (or if it'd need to be trailered there), to get the MOT.

Apoligises if I did misread that but to clarify

Driving to an MOT test when a SORN is in place:
You can drive your vehicle to and from a pre-arranged test at an MOT test station provided you have adequate insurance cover in place for that vehicle. from direct.gov

I would find an mot station with trade plates and get them to collect and drop it off for an MOT, as said a car with no MOT is scrap or spares or repair at best.

I agree. a car with no MOT is scrap or spares or repair at best!

Thats what I was unsure of, that quote mentions nothing if the car has a current SORN and theres nothing on the direct.gov website either.
