And I suppose you have experience of what it's like to live with a child who has severe ADHD?
There are approx 3000 children who qualify for the HRM component of DLA. In order to get the HRM component, the child either has other disabilities, or the ADHD is very severe and the child is in danger whilst out and about and needs constant supervision.
A friend of ours son has ADHD, he has learning difficulties also. He has no sense of danger. He runs into roads without looking, he runs away from his parents if he manages to get free of his reins (he's 9), he's been hit bar a car 4 times in the past 2 years that we have known them. 3 occasions he was fine as the car was travelling slowly, but the last time he broke his arm and fractured his pelvis.
My youngest daughter has ADD and ODD. It's a nightmare. This compounds on my health also as I get stressed with it and I'm already being treated for anxiety and depression. We currently don't claim DLA for her.
Without a car it is almost impossible for us to go out. She can't go on public transport as she won't sit down, she screams and shouts, she hits people, she bangs on windows.
It's the same with our friends, they have to have a car in order to go out. They actually have a car as my friend has his own business and he has a company car through that. They use his DLA to pay for specialist treatment at a Day Centre he attends one day a week. They get the HRM component and HRC.
Despite what the TaxpayersAlliance and Daily Fail mob would have you believe, not every chilld with ADHD/ADD/ODD/OCD/etc.... get the HRM component. Hell, not every kid with one of these disorders gets DLA at all.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Unfortunately, mother nature dictates if you run out in front of cars, you are going to rather rapidly going to remove ones-self from the genepool. Why that is a taxpayer or state problem, I cant really see.0 -

I didn't say I agreed, was just responding to another posters comment asking a question hence the question mark at the end of my comment....however my previous neighbour had a child of 10 with ADHD, seemed more of a behavioural problem and wouldnt not do as he was asked by his mother at all , climbed on lots of things etc... perhaps his form was not as bad?Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'

So you're saying my daughter should suffer because of a condition she has no control over. She can't just switch it on and off as and when she pleases. She should lose because she was made differently to her sister?OptionARMAGEDDON wrote: »Dont take her out then.
Again, he does not do this because he chooses to. To him there is no danger. There is no difference between running in a road and running on the pavement, in a field, in the garden. Are you saying that because a part of these kids brains operated differently they should be excluded from society.OptionARMAGEDDON wrote: »Unfortunately, mother nature dictates if you run out in front of cars, you are going to rather rapidly going to remove ones-self from the genepool. Should this then not also be the case for those born without limbs? without speech or sight? or is it just your ignorance of behaviour disorders that gives you such an opinion.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Thats part of the point I was making. Not all kids with ADHD get cars. You might not believe it because of the media/taxpayers Alliance have brainwashed you into thinking, but it is the case.
However, there are those children who do have very severe 'disorders' as someone put it, and they should be afforded the same benefits as someone with no legs ASSUMING they meet the criteria.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Yes, pretty much if its going to cost an absolute fortune to go along the socialist utopia of complete integration on society I am afraid. There simply isnt enough cash in the pot. If an individual cant be trusted on a street due to poor situational awareness, dont put them around moving traffic or keep them at home, its that simple really isnt it? I still dont see why this should entitle someone to a free car. Surely an individual with no awareness of danger would be just as likely to climb out the window of a moving car, or pull the handbrake, or act as a major distraction to the driver and thus be a major hazard to other road users and pedestrians.
Come on, lets be honest here, whilst the majority do have genuine issues, there is also a large minority that are playing to "Disorders" and "Syndromes" to excuse the fact their kids are little sh*ts.ignorance of behaviour disorders that gives you such an opinion.0 -
BUT NOT ALL OF THEM GET CARS. That is the whole point. Only those with the most severe traits of the disorder get cars.OptionARMAGEDDON wrote: »Yes, pretty much if its going to cost an absolute fortune to go along the socialist utopia of complete integration on society I am afraid. Everyone in this world is entitled to the same opportunities as everyone else. In a civilised world everyone is afforded the help that is needed to provide them with those opportunities. Surely you want to live in a civilised world?[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Why are you having a pop at company directors? Most people in this country think it's ok for footballers and "celebs" to earn millions but seem to think our business leaders should live on nothing? Mad.
If some mug wants to pay Carlos Tevez £250,000 a week that is of no concern to me although I think it is wrong.
Carlos Tevez has only himself and perhaps his agent to worry about.
A director of a large FTSE company rewarding himself a 49% pay rise when austerity and sharing the burden is being preached from every pulpit is well within the parameters of what I will have a "Pop " at.
