Anne, in the world of IT there are always options:Anne_Droid wrote:Aahh then the below don't apply do they guys
Such as:closed wrote:the OP will have to buy something to backup to, or use dvd's
Or cloud based backup services such as Skydrive (which is free)

Run Chkdsk first (Start > Run > type cmd and press enter > In the black box that opens type chkdsk and enter)How do I run a hard disk diagnostics??
It may ask you to schedule after a reboot, if it does, type Y to agree to it and reboot your PC.
Then use the SeaTools program you downloaded earlier.P.I.C.N.I.C problem: Problem In Chair, Not In Computer0 -

I've done the check and done the long generic test on seatools and it says it's passed. Does this mean everything should be ok now??0 -
It means there's no obvious problem with the hard drive, reassuring but still leaves some options like:
- Bad Drivers
- Bad Memory
Has it crashed again since the first occurrence?
Try this: click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer. Let us know what's in there.P.I.C.N.I.C problem: Problem In Chair, Not In Computer0 -

It's had the blue screen about 4 times now and I'm worried it'll totally wreck my computer.
On the Event Viewer it says:
Application Log Application Error Records 512.0 KB
Security Log Security Audit Records 64.0 KB
System Log System Error Records 512.0 KB
ACS Log Customer Log Error Records --
Internet Explorer Log Customer Log Error Records --
Microsoft Officer Alerts Log Customer Log Error Records --0 -
Just had the blue screen again...the error said IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Can anyone help me please?0 -
drivers or corrupt profile, backup now, create a xp disc if your machine has the option and you don't have one, and reinstall windows if it continues.!!
