Cremation Costs for Cat

I am so sorry to hear about your Cookie cat. I lost my Teddy cat unexpectedly on Monday of this week and like you cannot take it in that he's not with me any more. I am having him cremated and his ashes returned to me, however I don't know the price as I was in no fit state to ask. It's being done through the vet's. I have lost cats before (it's the only downside of being an animal lover, nature's law is that they will have shorter lives than ours) and have had them all cremated and their ashes returned to me. The comfort of having their ashes is irreplaceable. I can't remember how much any of the cremations cost, the cost will be forgotten while Cookie will never depart your thoughts for even a single day. My advice....well, it's basically, you will forget about the ££ when you have Cookie back in your home.0

Thanks everyone for your replies. Any suggestions on how to deal with this? I just feel in total limbo as I can't quite accept his passing. It just was all so quick and I feel like I've taken his presence for granted; he was the only cat I've ever known who would hug you back when you hugged him. I'm finding it so hard to be around the other animals now and I need to get this sorted so any suggestions on how to go about moving on would be really appreciated. I know it'll take time, but I need to feel like I'm doing something.Never argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0

When we had to put TIger to sleep last year (kidney cancer, he was only just under 10 yo) we called the vet to come home to do it. Vet took him away and arranged all with CPC for us, we went to collect his ashes in a cascet a week later
That was Thursday and we were NEVER going to get another cat.
Saturday we had 2 and by Sunday there were 4 little ones running around the flat and harassing Zara.
When they were very naughty I would lift them to show them the casket on the shelf and tell them that uncle Tiger is watching them.
Tiger will never be forgotten but... One of the kitties that looks similar to Tiger (ginger boy) has been unwell within the first few days and he was lying in the exat spot where Tiger was PTS (leather footstool in the living room), rushed him to the vets and ended up on a drip, the same kitten needed an op on his back legs, had one done needs another one - which is hearbreaking but... love them all. " are with my daughter now, she took the girls when she moved out, the boys stayed with me.
It may not work for everyone but....0 -
FabSascha, there's no need to push yourself to move on. You've only just lost Cookie and you are allowed to grieve for him in your own time. You have your other cats, and your OH, and they will all help you just by being there. It's Ok to cry and say Cookie's name. It is hard to say goodbye to a faithful friend, but once the horrible shock of losing him subsides (and it will, it may take a week or so, but that horrible sick feeling will go away) try to think of the many many good days you had with him and how he had a happy life with you, and don't forget to love the rest of your furbabies.0

When I've had cats put to sleep, the vets arranged everything and we paid the bill direct to them. All we had to do was go back to pick up the ashes. From memory the cost was about £80 but that was a few years ago.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

FabSascha, if you feel up to talking about Cookie you could try The Blue Cross Pet Bereavement Support Service http://www.bluecross.org.uk/2083/pet-bereavement-support-service.html It is run by volunteers with experience of pet loss and is free from a landline.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thanks so much everyone for your replies. I don't think I can manage to speak to someone on the phone as I couldn't even make his cremation plans by phone, I had to e-mail instead. It isn't taking a lot to start me off crying again, but at least it's not continual like yesterday and I've managed to get a couple of things done tonight which is more than I expected.
Having given it some thought, what I'd really like to do is get an indoor plant and add some of his ashes to it, then grow it as well as I can. However, I really have no idea where to start as I know nothing about plants. I would like a plant that will flower and will be incredibly easy to maintain as I think anything too hard to keep alive risks me accidentally killing it and I'll probably have to go through all this again. I'd ideally like to grow it from scratch if that's not unrealistic for someone who knows nothing about it; does anyone have any thoughts on this? Should I post this elsewhere? Any thoughts welcome and appreciated and thanks again to everyone who's replied so far xNever argue with an idiot; they'll bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience.0 -

OP I am so sorry for your loss. When i lost my beautiful girl (avvy) I was distraught- I just cried and rocked, and hugged her collar - I was a MESS! I rang these people a few times in the early days which really helped me...
http://www.bluecross.org.uk/2083/pet-bereavement-support-service.htmlI don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
