Cremation Costs for Cat

My cat was put to sleep this afternoon. I'm not in the best frame of mind and I've tried searching the forum for an idea of how much I should expect to pay for my cat's cremation, but I can't really find anything. I'm likely to go with CPC and would like Cookie's ashes to be stored in the container they have in their leaflet that allows for a picture on the front. Any chance anyone has any idea how much this would cost roughly? I'm not capable of calling them and I'm likely to be the same tomorrow, however I also realise that I need to get things going so that he can be cremated.

Also, we were thinking it would be nice if we could have him cremated with a couple of food items (it was his sole motivation in life so it's the perfect addition), do you think they will allow it?

I had one of my cats cremated in August, an individual cremation with a standard casket was £107.50.

I know the company I used allow toys etc to be included in the cremation so I'm sure they will include the things you want.

Thanks very much. I'm an animal obsessive and have 8 pets, but I've never lost one before (I had one disappear and reappear 3 years later but even that was different) so I'm so traumatised and just don't know how to handle it. I found out what was going to happen at midday and haven't stopped crying since. I've literally lost all control. It was so hard, I couldn't watch him die as I was closing in on passing out and he was such a popular cat that all the staff came and stayed with him whilst it happened, plus my mum. I just can't believe it. Thanks for your reply xx

OK that doesn't sound too bad, we'd had it in our head it would be about £200. Neither of us are working at the moment and we now owe the vet £1000 but anything other than doing it properly would break our hearts even further, so we have to go ahead with a proper acknowledgement . Hopefully we can set up some sort of instalment plan with the vet as they know me really well as Cookie has been sick for a long time. He always bounced back though, to the point where I pretty much took it for granted that he always wood. It's such a shock that he's now dead. I can't believe it.

fabsacha.....I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your cat, unfortunately I have lost two of my own darlings this year, Paddy just last week.
I delivered his body to CPC myself and will pick the ashes up, I chose a wooden urn but I think the picture box is the same price. I paid £123 and I dont think it is any more than £150 even if they collect the body from vet and deliver ashes back ( Recorded delivery, I didnt fancy that )
They are happy to include a personal item in the cremation, Paddy took some of his favourite dry food with him.

It seems costs vary...I live in an area which is usually quite expensive, but I paid £85 for my Cavalier King Charles. It was beautifully done and having him around does help with the grieving process.

We had a cat PTS on Monday, we were given a leaflet before hand by the vet and it had the names of the only three crematoriums they would deal with. We contacted them all and went with the most local, but all seemed to be very similar prices. They charged £96 , that included collection from the vets and then personal delivery to our home the next day with a certificate and wooden casket with brass name plaque. They were wonderful and very kind on the phone, prompt and courteous when they delivered her casket.

Sorry for your loss. He/she's in rainbrow bridge now. If you are going for cremation make sure you go to it. I've heard some terrible stories about people actually not getting their pets ashes back.

I had my Tiger creemated at CPC last year but did not go there myself, all was done via the vets, I am sorry I can not remember how much it was but at the time I have done a lot of reasearch and CPC came up very good... also spoke to them over the phone, very helpful and knowledgeable...

So sorry for your loss. I lost my King Charles Spaniel just two month ago, she passed away at home, on a bank holiday weekend. I was worried what I would do with her body thinking the Crem would be closed for another 2 days.

I searched on Google for the nearest Pet Crem which was a 45 minute drive away, they opened the Crem especially for us to take her. They would have collected at an extra cost but I preffered to take her myself so I know where she was going and what was happening. I was surprised the total cost of the individual cremation and ashes returned in an urn was just short of £100 and that was with the out of hours service. It was a beautiful Crem where I took my dog too.

I'm sure the cost depends on the weight of the animal (cats, small/medium dogs will probably be in the same price band) and if your would prefer an individual or communal cremation. I would think the cost for your cats cremation and ashes returned in an urn would be around £100.
