  • I've had them too - if they claim they are from microsoft and computers in your area have been having problems then it is a scam

    (again I say)

how can "Microsoft" (or anybody else) telephone you, if you haven't given them your phone number?? (how would they know?)

how do they know you have a computer and it's windows??

I'd see them off with a freck off tone and flea in their ear!!!

they probably got you to download a real virus in that file you downloaded too...
  • I've had this several times and keep telling them I don't have a Windows based PC, but still they persist!

Annoying callers - almost as bad as the calls regarding mis-sold PPI.

Like michbright I say I don't have a computer, so far they've stayed polite but sound incredulous (how can anybody in the world not have a computer?).

What's prompted this reply is that the most recent caller was able to tell me my home address (somebody here has registered a microsoft computer apparently!) As I'm in the phone book that's hardly confidential info so I'm not worrying about it, but wonder whether anyone ex-directory has had the same experience? If so that suggests someone somewhere has sold our data. As if anybody would
If you can't think of anything nice to write, say nothing. Rudeness isn't clever.

I know of an elderly lady who gave them remote control over her pc  I just wonder how much they could find out doing that.
