You will have a good pension even after these changes. Dont blame the Torys for taking it away, blame Labour for giving you something that never existed...it was all a lie, new schools & hospitals, big pay rises for public sector staff..it was a LIE...they brought your votes with a LIE, the money was never there, it did not exist, the borrowed it and now the chickens have come home to roost!
The Tories would have you and others believe is what I meant. What about the bankers then??? Not just about Labour.0 -

Good you will save the tax payer a fortune, but it will cost you dearly, leave you poor in old age, and very regretful. Your choice.0 -

Labour did the damage. Everyone else is left to pick up the mess for their mistakes.0 -

Exactly- every Labour government without exception has left the country in financial ruin, but people keep voting for them? I just dont understand!0 -

Let me explain....
How about the Welfare State, National Health Service, minimum wage, rebuilding crumbling schools, winter fuel allowance, sustaining employment, especially amongst the young.....
....and now what do we have....social unrest and a return to mass unemployment, again especially amongst the young!...... and on these forums we read the comments of retired financial advisers lecturing nurses, doctors, firefighters, paramedics, teachers, police etc with the barb 'welcome to the real world'. It reminds me of one of Thatcher's famous quips.....'unemployment is a price well worth paying'.......As long as someone else is paying it methinks! Yes many of us remember 1979 but from a different perspective to the above!0 -
The maximum your tight assed company would allow you to put in? What was stopping you having your own SIPP for example if you wanted to save more in order to provide a better retirement for yourself?
Yes, there was no mechanism to allow me to increase my contributions or for the Co to increase theirs.
I joined a private pension into which I payed in heavily without my employers help, get it?? In other words I funded my retirement I didn't ask anyone else to.
And for further information the company final salary joke was based on 1/120th salary per year service, check out the public sector figureI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
The private sector worker will be putting more in and getting less out than a public sector worker.
It would seem that public sector employees, always the first to spout about 'equality', suddenly don't believe in the level playing field after all."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
Most companies phased out company cars years ago. those that involve sales may still do, but then they spend their working lives on the road.
And to get the equivalent pension in the private sector that you get from being a paramedic would mean contributions of over 25% of salary from the start of working life. Can you do that? No, I didn't think so.0 -
You really don't have much idea about what other people's earnings are do you?
You think a nurse should be paid a below average wage? And a teacher?
You really think health and children's futures should be left to the "below" average employees?
I never mentioned what they should be paid I simply quoted the figures on ITV and BBC news yesterday and even more so today.
So do I think teachers and nurses should be paid a below average wage?? No of course I don't, but I do expect them to have to pay for an above average pension. Hope that's clearer for you,
Your last point is totally insulting to half the working class by definition of average, you really should think about the way you've worded that.:(:(I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
