Thanks yes thats right! I have never had anymore then about 2% at at time, and have also have been on a pay freeze for two years. TBH I can't afford the higher pensions contributions (or do I mean deficit) and will therefore have to let my pension lapse. :eek:0 -

Do you not see what is happening in Greece. God forbid the Labour pary had been elected in 2010 we would be on the roadto becoming another Greece. The present gov is giving us some short term pain, but this will ensure a better future for us and our children.
Bottom line is-if you dont like it in the public srctor, leave. There will be 20 people behind you waiting to take your job.
As I have already said my pension is not even worth very much!!! God I think that there is far too much Tory media spin listened to out there...0 -

Someone working 40 years on £35k pa therefore gets £35,000x40/60 =£23,333pa pension.
Nothing but I get 1/80th per year actually. Half salary after 40 years - not exactly raking it in even if you can get that many years in.0 -

Far too much Tory media spin? Who said anything about being a Tory, im just being realistic. It comes down to simple maths, you cant keep spending more than you earn-unless you want financial ruin.
You will have a good pension even after these changes. Dont blame the Torys for taking it away, blame Labour for giving you something that never existed...it was all a lie, new schools & hospitals, big pay rises for public sector staff..it was a LIE...they brought your votes with a LIE, the money was never there, it did not exist, the borrowed it and now the chickens have come home to roost!0 -

I know but I really can't afford it - I have family to think of. I guess I will just have to do something else when I can afford it. I think tbh there will be a lot of people in my boat who can't afford it either, and will most likely do the same. :eek:0 -

That would be one of the worst financial decisions you could ever make. You would lose thousands and thousands..end up poor in retirement. Your dependants would lose thieir pensions and life insurance protection, and you would have no pension in the event you had to retire early due to ill health (think of your previous post re carrying a cardiac machine up the stairs!!!)
You have two choices,
a) Pay slightly more for one of the best pensions available in the country.
b) Go on strike, lose your wages during the strikes and then pay more.
(Hint a is much cheaper!)0
