Isn't it scary that we will trust our precious cash to an organisation which can't get a form to print over the internet!

This must be costing them millions!

So very true - I'm not waiting for my form to arrive in the post now, they've lost my business, I'm going elsewhere
  • Just received my completed application form this a.m.,
signed it and sent it with my cheque.
They had enclosed a 1st class pre-paid envelope.

I photo-copied my signed application to be safe.

Hopefully they will receive it tomorrow. Wonder how long they will take to cash the cheque, since I have to transfer the funds (instantly) from a linked account paying decent interest to a rubbish interest cheque book one.
  • So annoying!!

My wife opened one of these by post.

Our current account is a joint one with both our names at the bottom of the cheque. The mandate says any one signature will suffice.

I signed the cheque as I wrote it out for her. That was not good enough for Yorkshire, they returned it with a snotty letter saying they needed my wifes signature on the cheque.

Have never come across this before. If it wasn't such a decent rate for 3 years I wouldn't return it.
  • I sent my cheque and application form last Thursday and today received an e-mail saying they'd received them and were opening my account.

Also because they were having such a mass of applications , not to contact them unless my certificate didn't arrive within 14 days.

Arsenalboy, just reading your post re cheque signature.
Our chequebook account is also in joint names, as was our application.
I wrote both names on the cheque but I'm sure I was the only one who signed it, I was also the first named applicant for the bond.

I do remember reading on their help site that if you were applying for a joint account that 2 seperate cheques would be acceptable.

Was the application in your wife's name only? That may have been the problem as they needed her signature on the cheque.

Yes the application was only for my wife. Over the years we have opened scores of accounts in her name (for tax purposes) but I have always done the admin and signed the cheque. First time this has happened.
  • Tried Online banking number today - waited for 13 minutes no one answered

Tried 0800 7076584 and first nothing happened just silence on the line then it started ringing and someone answered very quickly and she said she would post out a form! - hope it turns up now

I transferred an ISA to yorkshire, with their 3.3% offer being the best available at the time.
    Customer service was absolutely appalling.
I did intend to apply for this & invest nearly £20k in it. However I ripped up the application form after 2 calls to their "helpline".

Shambles. Will withdraw the ISA next year & will not bank with these misfts again.

PS you may want to know they outsource their call centre, so the people you speak with on the phone are not yorkshire bank staff.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Mine never did - that's 10 days ago now! Steer clear, think of all the problems when you want your money out.

I got a reply from the e-mail I sent on Thursday evening.

They apologised for the problems I'd had and asked if I had a ref. no, if so, I was to forward it to them and they'd send it on to the Term Deposit Team.

Would you like to share the email address you sent your message to?
I am trying to chase up a check for an ISA application I sent to them and cannot get anyone from them on the phone... I would be very pleased to receive an answer to my numerous queries!!!

They don't seem a business, let alone a bank!!!
