Hi Furry Pig
The magazine is Sainsbury's own Magazine. It has a free 40g bar of Green & Black's almond chocolate attached. It is totally and utterly gorgeous (the chocolate that is, not the mag!). There is also a 30p voucher for your next purchase of this chocolate.
The vouchers inside the mag are:
20p off WeightWatchers creamed rice
30p off Garner's pickled onions
30p off Baxters beetroot (jar)
30p off Sainsbury's young leaf spinach (fresh ready prepared bagged stuff)
30p off Sainsbury's watercress (also the fresh ready prepared bagged stuff)
30p off Jacob's Creek dry Riesling
30p off Danone Shape water (what a rip off product!!!)
75p off Wolf Blass Red Label Shiraz Grenache
30p off Del Monte fruit ices
30p off Sara Lee All Butter Croissants
I haven't looked through the magazine yet, but there is a note on the front saying "Bake your own bread, Simple and so satisfying". Obviously I bought the magazine for this feature and not for the free chocolate!!!;)
I am going to have a go at giving some of these vouchers to Tesco tomorrow, fingers crossed they work. Apparently if Tesco sell the item then you can use the voucher even if you don't actually purchase it.
SnowyOwlfurrypig wrote:snowyowl what do you do with the coupons? Can you use them in Tesco or is it only good for Sainsburys? Please tell me if there are any good ones and also what is the chocolate?? Didn't notice any chocolate attached to mags in Sainsburys but probaly didn't look properly!
Thanks for helping me out on my never ending quest for knowledge in this money saving world0 -
thanks so much for taking the time to tell me all that
will definitely keep an eye out for it tomorrow!0 -
You can't beat Sainsburys for buying 'reduced' food ......... the fruit and veg. are always rotten!!!;)It has taken about 4,500,000,000 (4.5 billion) years for the Earth to form as it is now .........
and it'll only take about another 100 years for mankind to really **** it up!!!!0 -
Sainsbury's in Alperton are great for reduced stuff...
The deli counter can quite often have cheese reduced to £1 a kilo.
You can usually barter with the fresh meat/fish counter for a further discount on reduced stuff if you will take whats left.
When they reduce stuff on the meat counter they write the new price in pen on the tickets... sometimes they 'forget' to wash them so you can get fresh meat for the price of the previous days reduced stuff.
Asda in Park Royal are also good for groceries... they have a huge section at the end of the checkouts where they (normally) take 40-60% off.Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees!0 -
Great tip, tonyivb - I shall give that a go! Thank you~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

SnowyOwl wrote:Half a turnip always available at 10p, or even 5p (though it's called Swede in England...and is bigger over here in N.Ireland)
What we call turnip is a different vegetable to swede SnowyOwl. Swede is an orange flesh veggie with a purpley top (although tis sometimes called Swedish turnip it is different to a normal turnip) and a turnip has white flesh. They are from the same family of veggies - brassicas.
I like turnip - can't stand swede!Mink0 -
Swede, glorious swede,
Mashed, roasted or "mixed in"

My Sainsburys is terrible for reductions, over inflated prices in the first place & fruit & veg reductions are mixed in with regular stock so you can't find them & they only reduce by 20p per item or 10%, which ever is lower. Meat & fish they reduce by 50p per item, even buig stuff like the carry-out Chinese takeawyas bags which start out life at £8.99 never go below £7 even on the day of expiry. The dented section is usually full of such damaged stuff I wouldn't risk eating it or else half the contents have spilled out. I think teh staff must nab all the really good bargins straight away. The only time I seem to get a really good deal is when somethign i son special offer any way, like chickens reduced by £1 a kilo, then reduced again due to overstock & date expiry. Their reduced shelves are always full too so obviously I'm not the only one who thinks they don't reduce by enough. Avoid Sainsburys in Walton on Thames is my advice.
Morrisons seem to reduce by about 40% to start with but it always seems t0 be processed stuff I wouldn't want to eat.
Tescos in Brooklands have good reductions, normally everything reduced by at least 50% to start with then further reductions afer 5.30pm and often down to silly 10p & 20p prices, bakery goods are reduced to 20p but everyone who shops there knows & mobs the reduced shelves!Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
My local Sainsbury's only ever has a tiny shelf with reduced stuff on it, most of which is crap! There only ever seems to be a bashed in packet of Brandy Butter, a leaky looking tin of sweetcorn, some kind of inedible pickle and a broken air freshener.'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0
