Rather than selling stuff off they just put stuff at the window and you can help yourself.

My OH came home with a bargain today, 2 half legs of lamb, which were originally £7.99, for £2 each as the supermarket he works for were selling them to staff, and he got his 10% discount!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Today I got few things like bread/pastries which I get very often, and got some puff pastry for 50p. I also got a pack of 2 fancy chicken breasts for £1. They were free range and corn fed and had skin on and everything! :P Think the original price was £5.69 or something ridiculous like that. I'd never have bought anything like that for full price, and not sure that I would even if I could afford it! I like getting reduced items that are things I wouldn't usually buy - so I get something fancy or try something new when usually I wouldn't be able to, and if it's an ingredient I don't generally buy, I enjoy working out a nice new meal to make with it.
It's also handy getting things you use or like anyway, like the rotisserie chickens I occasionally buy one for about £4.40, but when reduced to £1.80 I always get one! On sunday I got a bag of organic parsnips for 30p which was handy for the roast and a nice change as I've not done parsnipsin ages.
I do think some people are a bit harsh on judging the kind of people who buy bargains though. If someone buys all of something I would have wanted then yeah it's a little bit annoying, but I don't feel like I'm missing out because it's not something I went there planning on getting anyway - if I'd got some it would be a bonus. I've never encountered people physically pushing or elbowing, so if there are actually supermarkets that do this then that is bad :S And I really don't think that only people who 'need' bargains should get them - people with money are just as entitled to them as we are, and just because someone looks posh or rich doesn't necessarily mean they are rich. The only ones that do annoy me are people who grab everything and you can tell it's for a restaraunt or business.. although again I guess they have as much right as we do, and if they can make a bit of extra profit then I guess it will help them to treat their kids too.
Another thing I've learnt is to only buy what you need too, and be organised with storing it! In the past I've got a bit carried away when things are bargains, and bought things that I won't end up using. Either that or I've bought too much stuff that won't keep, or just couldn't decide what to eat first so thought I'll put it all in the fridge for now... and then forgotten to put it in the freezer. Learnt that one pretty quickly though and now hardly ever throw whoopsies away.0
