We scored big on mushrooms last time I visited the condemned food counters at our local Tescos. It was Saturday night a couple of weeks ago, around 8pm. I picked up four bags of fresh mushrooms, total weight 3.25kg, for a total of £1.22.
When I got them home, I sliced them, fried them, divided them into "meal-sized" portions (I add mushrooms to most things) and froze them. Enough for 13 meals."Be the type of woman that when you get out of bed in the morning, the devil says 'Oh crap. She's up.'

So I'll merge the this one with it after a while.
That other thread is from 2008 Squeaky...
I managed to get some chilli, ginger and garlic for 9p pre squeeshed in tubes, was £2.00 odd.
Best one this year was 2 huge Gressingham Ducks for 5p each. That was a few months ago.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

That's pretty good getting ducks for 5p!
Back in 2003-2004 we could reliably go to our local as*a and pick up a trolley full of meat reduced to pennies for joints, mince, all sorts of things. We once got a trolley full of finest Christmas food for £36. It should have cost over £300. We froze most of it and DH and DD were eating lovely sea food all evening that night. I was NOT happy, DS was well overdue by that time and just not shifting *roll eyes!*.Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.0 -
I've just got my best one, a whole rainbow trout for 57p from Sainsbugs:D I usually only find the things that have a few pence knocked off, so this is a triumph for me:D+++ Divide By Cucumber Error. Please Reinstall Universe And Reboot +++

You just need to be prepared sometimes to hang around. I have managed to time it right 3 times in the past 2 weeks.
I got sea bass fillets, 2 in a pack, down from £4.98 () to just 50p. Grabbed 5 of those.
Very rare to be able to get halal meat reduced. Got 2 big packs chicken mince for 50p each, and sausages.
In total, I got around £70 worth for around a tenner over 3 visits.
My meat/ fish freezer drawer is stuffed full now and that should do me for the month.
Obviously 10p bread/ fruit/ veg etc.
It's Eid this weekend, so we will have nice grub and a bit extra to spend on treats from what I saved on the shopping.
Oh, and nabbed quite a few packets of 'slimey / spooky' Jaffa cake bars etc for 30p each, reduced after Halloween. They will do nicely for Eid visitors. I just take them out of the packets and no-one is any the wiser!Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Yep! They're out of date
But then - while interesting, and good finds for the posters, the majority of the finds are very local yellow stickered things and by next week very nearly all of these finds will be out of date. So they might as well join the other out of date finds

It was 4.30 and they were closing at 5. Maybe 30 minutes before closing applies everywhere? HTHThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.
