I was hoping you hadn't abandoned your garden - sounds great! I may have to go that protective route myself, especially for root crops.

to eyeliner but
to facebook, I'm not a fan of that at all, much nicer here on MSE.
As Marty said about the phone it might be better to pay an extra £10 for a higher tariff so that you'd have more inclusive calls and wouldn't be running up scary bills.

Hiya Mags & welcome, lovely to have you here :j
Souk - hello lady & do hope you're settled in now, there's nothing wrong with a bit of Liza
Karma - hello & the garden wasn't abandoned, it's just that (shhhh don't tell Pippi ) I'm a southern softie & hence a bit of a fair-weather gardener
. Wind, rain or cloud & I hibernate - the major advantage of having a garden that's at the end of a path & not directly attached to the house
.
Marty - how's your weekend been hon ? Goodness NO to hats . I was stunned the guy got in touch because there was some history attached & as I'm tucked up with a hottie I'll tell you a bedtime story all about it ...
It must be nearly 3 years ago now that I had this brief foray into the weird world of free internet dating. This particular guy approached me on the site & while I wasn't initially interested in him at all, he was very funny & a good writer.
Having already met up with the sweet but still grief stricken widower , the coked up artist who made me cook the dinner he'd invited me to & been sent pictures of the campervan man erm 'standing to attention' , my enthusiasm for internet dating was waning fast until 'The Doctor' started chatting. He was clearly intelligent & educated & although I wasn't convinced about him being an actual doctor, he was amusing enough to keep in touch with.
We exchanged numbers, had a few chats & eventually arranged to meet half way ( about 70 miles apart) for a meal. He'd expressed a love of fast cars & I admit I was curious as to what he had. A few hours before the date was due, he got in touch & admitted that in fact he didn't have a car as he was banned from driving but if I was willing to drive to his place, then he'd cook me a seafood meal.
Now, I love driving & it was an easy journey, BUT I'm not a fan of sea food, certainly not enough to do a 150 round trip on a friday night & most definitely not to meet up with a stranger who's already lied to me.
I said I wasn't interested after he'd lied to me & he got very vexed, sending me ranting texts telling me not to be so prim & perfect & to go F myself.
I wasn't that bothered & withdrew from the site not long after & soon forgot all about him.
Until yesterday. I googled him & wow does this guy have history & some issues .
In short, he's a predatory player; scans the dating sites for women who are 35+, gives out the dedicated Doctor with no time to meet women' spiel & then takes them for every penny. There are pages of twittering about him, he has desperate & slightly deranged women uploading stuff on youtube & other sites, declaring love for him. He's also a serious political animal with some very extreme views.
Why he would have kept my number I have no idea, but I'm glad I trusted my initial instinct not to have anything to do with a weasel who lied before the first date & I suspect his rage when I turned him down, was because he's not used to rejection & is actually a particularly nasty type of misogynist.
So, there you have it; yet another cautionary tale from Auntie Lula's big book of Lessons Learned the hard way :rotfl:.
In other matters I have been frugal - No Spend Day number 8 :j
I've also had fabulous things occur;
- £5 amazon voucher from survey
- DD1 is being given an award at work :T & I get to go along to the presentation next week, free dinner & doctors - real ones hopefully
- little DD has been given a medal for enthusiasm & effort in PE :T.
I know it's vicarious fabulousness, but it's all I've got today.
Off for a wander through the diaries now,
bye for now
x0 -
Hello Auntie Lula,
It sounds like you had a lucky escape from "The Doctor" compared to some other women. I wonder whether the police would be interested in him if you say he's conned money out of some of them?
So, have you given up on internet dating? Are there any other avenues that you could explore when it comes to gentlemen? I'm not exactly a winner in love so can't exactly lecture. Lol.
Well done to you on the Amazon voucher and to your two DDs on their awards.Council Tax £1,928.85, Fines £90.00, Old Car Tax £267.00, Gas £337.25, Electric £54.42

Not at all. That's a complete avoidance of Learning a Lesson the Hard Way because you Trusted Your Instincts (TM).
Your experience could have turned out far, far worse.- DD1 is being given an award at work :T & I get to go along to the presentation next week, free dinner & doctors - real ones hopefully
You mean ones without a sonic screwdriver or other noisy appendages?- little DD has been given a medal for enthusiasm & effort in PE :T.

Right I like shoes (don't own enough but I like them) and I wear mascara on special occasions, please can I join in the banter and learn from your debt free ways? You've also made me laugh which is great. Subscribing and hoping to learn a thing or two on the journey.

Hi kerri_dfw
welcome & please do join in, either shoes or a stick of makeup will do ... not sure I'm a full qualified Debt Freebie yet, I think I'll feel happier & more secure about it in a few months time.
Z - I did initially learn the hard way; I lived with a socio/psychopath for 5 years & whilst I knew he was a lying, thieving con man, I could never actually prove it as every excuse he gave was just so plausible & my head was tied in knot with the lies.
In the end I just had to wait for him to commit a big enough 'crime' to get shot of him for good, & him emptying my bank account & disappearing for a week was 'the one'. I nearly gave myself a breakdown trying to figure out which bits of my life for the last 5 years were true & which were pure fantasy. The remnants of his lies kept resurfacing for about 2 years after I ejected him & it took me a long time to answer the door without first checking to see if it was bailiffs, police or even less desirable types who were knocking.
Eventually I had to tell myself that I'd never know for sure about anything during that time we were together & to just let go of it & move on.
Dark times indeed, but I remain standing; older, wiser & now even richer too
.
I'll put up with stuff, but I won't take any form of abuse, I wont put up with lies & I sure as eggs is eggs, wont ever mix money & men again.
I'd rather stay single & have more shoes :rotfl:0
