I wasn't very impressed with Ayamonte, quite dirty and industrial.

You would also still have to fly into Faro and therefore flights will still be £££ unless you flew to Seville and then take a car 2-3 hours to Ayamonte.
  • Hi Felix

Industrial??? Cant imagine anyone thinking that AND dirty. Well, I have never found it dirty and have been there more than a dozen times.

Best bet check out https://www.tripadvisors.com and see what other people think.

Industrial, still cant get that one!!

  • PS Driving from Sevilla to Ayamonte takes 1 hr maybe 1 hr 10 mins max. You sure you are thinking of the right place....2-3hrs you would be past Faro!!!

Yes industrial, based around a fishing industry. Isla canela is surrounded by salt marshes and Isla Cristina too hence the smell and mosquitos.

2 hours on a good day at the legal speed limit. It takes 1.5 hours to get from Seville to Huelva and then a further 30 mins from there.
  • I would check your car hire company even on a bus i have done it in less than 2 hrs and driving i never go over 70 so maybe you need to check you stay on the motorway:o

Funny how people views can differ. I would never class fishing industry with small white boats and industrial more quite cute.

Each to their own but it is getting very popular.

Not got much time to go through a lot but I have been 6 or 7 times to various area in the Algarve

If you are looking for somewhere quieter but still with restaurants/beaches etc then try

    Lagos
    Alvor
    Praia Da Luz

Try and avoid the areas below if you dont want any wild nightlife on your doorstep. Saying that The Algarve in my opinion is still nowhere near anything like some of the Costas for loud, noisy resorts

    Avoid
Albufeira (Montechoro strip area) Old Town quieter but still busier
    Praia Da Rocha

Ill be back online later if you have any more questions or queries i will try and assist

I would vote for Praia Da Luz/Alvor too.

The villa agency .co.uk. They are great. The villas are amazing and spotless and the meet and greeter at the villa is as discreet as you could possibly ask for.

Always fly easyjet as we live near stansted.

If you were looking at Portugal I hope you are not expecting Lanzarote to be an equivalent. You know what they call it, and it lives up to its name!
    Gone ... or have I?
