hello all!!
we're joini:j ng in too.
we were well on our way until this morning when we realised the car clutch does not have long for this world. have booked it into the garage this week, and by shopping around have managed to find a garage in Gt yarmouth to do it for Under £180.00. Thats £110.00 cheaper than we have been quoted locally. It means a nice day out for me and dp too. (windswept on the beach I fear but I shall visit the market):money:
Bit of a shock, but thanks to everyones helpful advice on msos we have already made enough of a saving in the last two weeks to pay for it. had I been mindlessly handing over my cash in the supermarket as I used to do I would not have had the funds for the repair and so would have been car-less!
So thanks to you all and good luck to everyone on their individual PMS.

Pass me a damp brow wiper. I'm in on it too

Wish I'd though of this 6 months ago
I have saved loads of money on grocery's by menu planning and swaping my shopping to Lidl (who don't take vouchers or do BOGOF's).
I have attemped to sell all of my old books on Amazon, but no-one wanted to buy them so I have given them to friends and relations as swaps for more books (we've got our own mini library going and I haven't bought a book in months, probably saving me about £20 a month cause I used to buy loads from charity shops and £1 shops). Got nothing else worth selling.
I've been using nothing but vinegar and bleach for cleaning and as softner.
I've swaped all my providers for everything (gas, electic, phone)
I have started saving receipts (or a record) for everything so I know how much I've saved as I have no idea how much my grocery bill used to be (except a lot)
If I'd have started this 6 months ago I might well be a millionaire by nowWhen life hands you a lemon, make sure you ask for tequilla and salt0 -
Ok - thought I'd start doing this challenge now so that I could see if it was going to be worth my while......and I've come to the conclusion that it is! lol( i've got the flu so bear with me if I ramble - these paracetamol are good!!)
Ok so far in the last few days....
Had my shopping delivered from tesco - used a £15 voucher from here. Complete !!!! up tho - they didn't have half the stuff I wanted, told me they'd substituted items but had forgotton to put them in (I remember now why I stopped using them). Anyway - the upshot was - the very nice driver went through the whole lot with me - (was his last delivery of the day so he had time) He made a note of everything and even turned a blind eye to the 3 bottles of wine that i'd not ordered or been charged for!!! Sneaky I know - but took the wine back the next day - swapped it for something drinkable, pizzas for tea and a top each for the kids...not actually saving any money (cost me 8p) but not a bad swap!
So a £15 saving on the shopping at least.
Got a voucher for a free Easter egg... £2.19 in the savings pot
Changed internet package saved £7 a month.
Changed to 18866 - save approx £12 a month.
Made a genuine complaint about an item and received £6 worth of vouchers
Have a rare night out planned for friday night (ty mum for baby sitting) but managed to win a competition on the local radio at the weekend - a meal for two worth £50... Ok so we wouldn't have spent £50 ona night at the cinema but at least a £30 saving.
Signed up with sainsburys dvd trial - free dvd's for a month -although we wouldnt have had dvd's if we didn't have the cash - not really a saving but I've been glued to the telly for the past few evenings - saved me spending on ebay!!
Finally - sold all of the kids outgrown clothes on ebay and made £48 - spent it on ebay buying complete new set of clothes each for this summer!!
So all in all I think I've done well!!
p.s Also had a note from the c.s.a. telling me that ex's payments are going up (£5 a week - better than nothing)and that he owes me over £1k I didn't know about!!!!! Getting it will be another matter i'm sure - but made me smile!!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

"Officially" (LOL) we will be starting, in earnest, after the budget (tomorrow  ) and when we all know were we stand re: annual bills and the increases. Hence the decision to kick start in the financial new year.
Having said that - you can't knock enthusiasm and by golly - what an enthusiastic lot we have - well done those PMS'ers- so, those who loved the idea so much they choose to begin now, that's fine by me
(Just means they have a little stash to begin with instead of an empty pot).
I shall begin a monthly thread though when everyone's had chance to bring their budgets up to date pending any increases. That way, it'll be easier for others to look up, catch up, post their own pin money successes and hopefully we'll inspire and encourage one another.
Soooooooooooo, for those who have begun - well done!
For those who are waiting for us all to begin together, look out for the new threads next week~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
