Are we all pin money trainees then?:)0
-
Well i'm going to start my PMS challenge today !!
I'm off to Aldi's to do some shopping as i usually go to tesco's.
Was also v v lucky yesterday, my b/f brought a scratch card (without telling me!!) and gave it to me to scratch, 5 wins on one card and we won £50 !!!!:j
So that is going straight into the pot :money:
I also have a couple of old vases that we save coppers and pennies in one and silver in the other, we were going to take it to the machine in tesco's to change but i think i'll just bag it up and put it into the bank.
Going on holiday in June and the rest of the payment needs to be paid by the 22nd of April so hopefully i'll be able to pay it with my PIN money
Thanks for a great challenge i take my hat off to you0 -
Great minds think alike Queenie!!
Count me in as I've been doing it since the beginning of the year(but to make it fair I won't count my existing balance )
Since 01/01/05 i have saved £89.23 just on food buying(I work this out by using the offer saving total that you get at the bottom of the reciepts in Sainsburys & Iceland and adding any savings from buying reduced items which doesn;t show within in that total)
I've also saved £15.00 by using my Boots & Nectar points so grand total saved of £94.23.
As from this month we have changed our budgeting method to the 3 purse cash only approach(one purse for petrol, one for grocery and one for miscellaneous)
Anything left at the end of each week is put into our money jar where we used to save 20p pieces.
I will count it before tax year end and bank it so that we all start from the same place(but I will let you know how much was in there-I'll need to know for my own records anyway)
Good luck everybody0 -
You can definitely count me in on this as I want to see my savings account grow
I've decided to set up a virtual account in MSMoney and everytime I make a saving on anything, whether it be vouchers, BOGOFs, discounts etc, I will transfer the equivalent amount into the virtual account and at the end of the month transfer the money for real from my current account to my savings account :T
I'll use this month as a trial period to get used to it and then start reporting my savings from April"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"
~
It is that what you do, good or bad,
will come back to you three times as strong!

I've just opened a new savings account just to put my monthly pin money savings into
I never ever dreamed I would have a savings account. I always thought myself lucky when I didn't have too much month left at the end of the money.
It's called my Rainy Day account (I liked the fact you could name it whatever you liked) and I can transfer what ever I have saved directly from one account into another.
Little things please little minds I suppose, but it's made my afternoon a little brighter.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
F U Fund currently at £2500 -
:T
O good - I like this idea. I am addicted to using the coupons now and have been putting the dosh into a little jar already so I up for continuing that. Have been doing the March challenge and its going ok but am not sure there'll be anything left in the shopping purse at the end of the month - I do hope so!0 -
I would like to join in too!
I think I will do two seperate saves though, one to pay off my credit card which is £600 and the other a short term for spending money for our holiday. We are going to Whitby for a week the beginning of June. thank you!0 -
Whitby - lovely part of the world! I went there when the endeavour was there on a gorgeous day (although it started misty- very atmospheric for the abbey though!) Don't think there will be enough in my jar for a holiday this year but had a good one last year so I got the photos to console me!:(0

Room for another?
Started a financial “firm up” in February after having been sidetracked (baby, work-life balance etc, etc) for 18 months or so, which included identifying savings. Although there was a lot of scope for easy MSing (a couple of cc balances to transfer), I was particularly pleased to see all the little bits and bobs mounting up. I managed to save/earn £182.18 extra: 80% of which went straight towards debt re-payment, and nominal amounts of 10% went into starting an emergency-type fund, and 10% to long term savings.
TO KEEP THE MOMENTUM UP, I would like to join the challenge! Cheers for starting this off, and good luck, everyone!!
My Pre-Challenge to do list (not necessarily in the correct order):
- Set goal!
- Review budget!!
- Tackle the financial paperwork (uggg!) (which will mean that I’m more organized to save?!).0 -
I am well on me way with this challenge. I have spent the morning on my pc listing my unwanted items, ree in my local rag and my usual haunts. If they all sell, theres going to be £100 thats going straight into my challenge fund. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
