Okay so today is day one of my new challenge! Wage went into bank and I have decided to try and deal with cash only. I will be handing over my debit cards to my husband and putting £100 in my purse to last the week (including shopping) however my week is really going to start on a Tuesday because that's what day I usually do my shopping so it will be an incentive to spend less because then it means I have more money left for the rest of the week.
I am also going to wipe the MS Money slate clean and start to use that again so I can see where the money is going. I've also asked my husband to start taking an interest in where the money goes
So - as of 31/03/05 - PMS money so far: 35p found in loose change which has just been sitting around the house.April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110 -

Pay day today and I've still got a couple of hundred pounds in my current account  Not sure how I managed it tho so can't tell you!?!
I think partly because I've sent hubby to do the shopping each week and so he just sticks to a shopping list. This is good as I don't then impulse buy but it also means we don't get the BOGOFs etc (that I would use). However, as I'm still completing the store cupboard challenge anyway that's not too much of a hardship!
Transferring savings today to ISA before end of tax year!Mink0 -

Well done to you how impressive. My OH spends more. If I send him with a list he never sticks to it and then says I just bought . . . oh and I bought . . . I prefer to do it myself. All my views are just that and do not constitute legal advice in any way, shape or form.£2.00 savers club - £20.00 saved and banked (got a £2.00 pig and not counted the rest)Joined Store Cupboard Challenge]0 -

If I take him with me he piles the shopping in the trolley. If I send him on his own he can always think of something better to be doing so he does it as quick as he can by sticking to the list, lol!
Just remembered some of the money was from the tax office - hubby got a tax rebate!Mink0 -
I did a practice run over a couple of days in March and saved £8.76 just on buying cheaper alternatives for 2 days! Was very impressed and will start properly on this challenge from tomorrow. Can't wait to total it all up at the end of the month. Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

I'm trying to do 3 10-day shops a month instead of 4 (ie one a week) and I am trying out online shopping this month on the principle that I buy a load of crap I don't need if I wander round the suprmarket and spend far too much. So far have had 2 deliveries, one from Tesco and one from Sainsburys, got another due Tuesday evening from Tesco. I have used online voucher codes and so far have made good savings. I like this as I can plan ahead, can change my order up to the day before delivery and only buy what I want/need. My main challenge this month is to not overspend and to stay within my allocated budget (which is fairly generous but less than usual). I am only going to the shops for bread (I don't eat bread so that is not often) milk and the odd item we run out of (eg Oxo's) - we have a well-stocked CO-op with in walking distance and I work near an Aldi store so that has not been a problem so far. It seems wierd not pushing and shoving my way round Tescos every Saturday but far less stressful and I can do something else with my saved time. So far so good.
Also we both work for the same organisation and get paid on the same day every 4 weeks which means we have 13 paydays a year yet only 12 sets of bills. We have decided to try and make each 4 weekly payment last a month, ie an extra 2 or 3 days - then at the end of the 12 month period we should have one whole paypacket each "extra" to save. That is the theory anyway! We are working it to 15th of the month. Has anyone else tried this?
