Motability car and winter snow?

We have a motability car since early this year and want to know if motability will provide free winter snow tyres for our car if we request it.

Or is it that new modern cars can handle the snow easily and dont require new snow tyres?

Kwik Fit will fit them at your own expense and only after you have the prior express agreement from Motability.

Quite rightly too - if you are disabled, it's surely dangerous to venture out in any snow heavy enough to require snow tyres?

Seriously, though, I can imagine that *some* disabled people need to get to hospital, whatever the weather...

Anf that wouldn't be considered a prejudicial statement. Some of us disabled monkeys even work.....

My comment came across blunter than I intended - apologies, it was meant to be 'tongue in cheek'!

But as a 'disabled monkey' myself, I do panic in heavy snow, and would be very wary of going very far - I'm not sure that my wheelchair would cope very well either.

Now there's a thought - can you get snow tyres for wheelchairs?

I refused to go out in the snow now.
Last year we went to the cinema in town (7 miles away) weather was sunny went we left, we came out of the cinema 2 1/2 hours later to snow, managed to drive most of the way, got stuck about 1/2 mile from home and took over 2 hours for me to push oh wheelchair the rest of the way

Not everyone lives in a town / city / etc some live in remote areas where there is almost zero in the way of road clearing and extreme conditions in the winter even in this country.

When I was Skiing in America a few years ago, all the Yanks had fitted mountain bike tyres to their chairs....

You're local bike shop should be able to order you a pair and fit them for you.
