Personally I would not want to risk damaging the wheels or the tyres by paying for them to be swapped on the rims twice per year. It is a much better idea to buy a 2nd set of rims with the winter tyres fitted.

Unbelievable, do you think that tyre wholesalers/fitters/suppliers, remove the tyres using a hammer and chisel?

Eh? I've had alloys damaged and tyres damaged by clumsy fitters.

Just stating that after much research I ended up getting exactly the same thing as you.

The funny that was a response to those who called it into question.

Yes, it is a nice coincidence. Did you see any of the treads on the vwaudiforum about the subject? I found the info there very useful.

You obviously do not have much experience of tyre fitters changing tyres on alloy rims, otherwise you would know what can happen.

I have over 30 years driving experience and have been to many different tyre fitters ... so do not make dismissive comments about other peoples posts unless you have similar experience.

Oh, and by the way, 20 years or so ago, using a hammer and chisel was an accepted method of removing old tyres that were stuck on the steel rim :p

http://www.auchinleatyres.co.uk/, buy a set of steel wheels to fit your car, even from a scrappy and take them there or get a mate to take them there. Seriously a better option than Quick fit, I would even take them there for you rather than let QF get the business.

Check the discount kwik-fit claim. I was asking at ATS while mine was getting tracked who also offer the 4 get 25% offer and he said thats on summer "normal" tyres only. Winter Tyres dont count. I couldnt get any of the normal discounts I get for the winter tyres so have to pay £124 a tyre! I just hope they last 2 winters. Oh and dont know about your local but my local ATS is storing my summer tyres for 6.50 a tyre. Which for me made the sale as we have a 2 bed terrace so no tyre storage room at all

They would say that, wouldn't they. The Kwikfit 25% advert clearly says "including Winter Tyres".

Winter tyres and kwik fit advice, not a sentence anyone in their right mind would put together. Get the best winter tyres you can afford and at all costs avoid kwik !!!!!!
