facebook imposter!

I am not sure where to post this but as its probably going to be a vented rant I thought maybe here?
I just clicked search on Facebook with my own username hoping it would show up if I had won any of the competitions on there but instead it showed up a whole new me! well not exactly new, same school and same area now living same year of birth, same likes same hobbies same films and some of the same contacts!?!?!
this profile was created just over a week using all my details, I dont do much on facebook only have about 5 friends on there as I originally joined for the local selling pages and keep track of my daughter... now I mainly use it for comping.. this 'new' me has even entered and liked many of the pages I have visited.
The freakiest thing tho is that they have 77 friends many of them from around where I went to school including someone who was in the year above me at school.. now I am 40 so doubt its anyone from school playing a prank! also my profile picture is not a photo of me and this person has even taken that photo and added it to their profile as a secondary picture.
I dont use my full name on facebook I use a shortened version as both my first and last names are long... I havent wound anyone up or upset them I keep myself to myself and have a very small group of friends.
I am really freaked out as to who or why someone would do this at first I thought that maybe it was someone randomly cloning my profile to enter comps on there or from one of the sites I have entered a comp, but the fact that they have gone to the trouble to get friends from around the area I grew up has me so stressed.. I have reported it to facebook but I cant relax now... many years ago I had a real life stalker ex boyfriend and this brings back some bad memories.
do you think this is personal or someone ripping my identity for competitions?

I can't see how a facebook page would benefit a criminal, so i'd say personal?
Add them as a friend and initiate conversation...........0 -
Have you considered the existence of an alternative universe0

Are you an un-diagnosed schizophrenic?
Although i'd be a bit pissed off as well if a clone had more friends than me.0 -
Could it be your daughter getting back at your for being nosy at what she is up to? Wouldn't someone need your log in details to get access to your account. Have you checked for computer hacking?0

At the bottom of the left hand column of the profile page for the other you there is a link called "Report/Block". Click on it and follow the instructions (if you haven't already of course).0

not daughter it says the profile was created at 9am on 20th far too early in morning lol and no we have a good relationship we use facebook to message and share pics I dont keep an eye on her as such...
I dont think that they have been into my account they have used all the info in the profile to create their own identical one
scheming_gypsy, for a split second I did consider that!0 -
Are all your details secured? have you gone through the Facebook security? Is what they have copied available public on Facebook - or would someone have to know you to create the duplicate account? If not sure - go to your profile, click view my profile then hover over the black head/ figure and it will tell you what the public access is on your account - if it says public - then everyone can see your information - I set mine to 'only me' and then ask friends to add me. This is a good way to secure your on-line data - like so many of us- when it comes to passwords we use easily memorable things - so hackers try to get our personal information (and Facebook helped them with setting public as the default setting!) Hope this helps your security but it may not solve the mystery!'Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts' : Member number 632

I'd perosnally go with partner or ex-partner, trying to snoop out what youre upto. Either that or you have a fan page, most celebrities have them, you should be flattered.0

This has made me immediately go on Facebook and search for my own name. Did anyone else do that? Interestingly, there's only one other person with my name.i before e, except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour0

Oddly I found no other Velcro Hotdogs
OP do you have a common name? Is it not possible that someone with the same year of birth has the same name and because they live in the same area know people you do?0
