Is my logic as bizarre as others on here.

Not taking my library book back today as haven't finished reading it BUT ALSO won't manage an NSD if I have to pay my fine on it. Seems a bit bizarre!

    Hi B

Can you renew the book over the phone? So you can read the end of it and not get a fine?
No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Sorry I don't know how to include a 'quote' that shows up in a different colour - this is from Lotti379
Currently thinking sloe gin (need to buy some little stocking-sized bottles though),

Sloe gin takes about 2yrs to mature to be really nice.
How about Whiskey Ginger this takes about 6 weeks to do. 1 inch root ginger shredded, 1/2 oz juniper berries (optional), 1 pint whiskey. Mix, then strain in 5-6 weeks time. I sometimes add sugar at this stage depends on what you like. Tastes like whiskey mac.
Or, raisins in rum, looks good in small fancy jars, just fill jar with raisins, top up with white rum and leave. Ready in about 3-4 weeks and great on ice-cream. No sugar needed as the raisins are sweet enough.
One of my favourites is plums in rum but it takes about 3 months to do. Use the red skinned plums thinly sliced, 6oz white sugar to each pound of plums, cover with white rum, just shake every day until the sugar has dissolved then leave. The rum mellows and goes a fabulous colour, a rich pink and the fruit is delicious, again looks good in small jars.
The good thing about making your own 'liqueurs' is that you needn't use expensive named branded alcohol, supermarket own brand or even value lines will suffice.

Spend day for me as I had to have our dog put to sleep. Feel really sad but I know I did the right thing for her, but that doesn't make it any easier.:(

Frodo - so sorry to hear about doggy, it's a really tough decision to have to make. Give yourself plenty of TLC, and give yourself time to come to terms with it. Here's some (((((((((hugs))))))))) from a fellow dog owner.:)

    Hi everyone!

Not a NSD for me as I had grocery shopping to do this morning.
Lost another pound today - 23 in total now!:j

My non-food treat this week was to go to m&$ and get properly fitted for a bra. Turns out I've been wearing the wrong size for years -36c when I am really a 34dd! I was shocked! The fitter spent ages getting the right one, brilliant service esp when the one that ended up being the best fit was a very reasonable £12!th_girl_flag_of_truce.gif

Hoping to get off the ground it NSD terms tomorrow. Only have zumba and the £3 for that is snuggled up in the spare purse;)

    Have a great day everyone!:)

Huge ((((((((((HUGS)))))))))) Frodo, I so know how you feel.

It's a horrible decision to have to make but it's all part of being a loving pet owner. You're right though, knowing you did the right thing doesn't make it any easier.

And PS: Yes, of course you may join in, you're very welcome. LittleMissHappy is doing the update tonight, she'll add you to the list then.

    Hello all!

How have I missed this thread? This could really help my budget. I'm going to consider my NSDs as days when I have not paid for anything with cash/debit card. I'm going to aim for 16 days this month, reckon we can do 4 days a week without spending as although I tend to do a big shop once a week there are always those dd days when you run out of milk etc.

Good luck everyone with their goals xxx

Hugs to Frodo, I know how terrible it is to be in that position xxx
  • Evening all!

Firstly thank you for the lovely newbie welcomes - I've never had the confidence to participate in forums before, but the need to do something about my finances has given me the push to just get out there and try things - your welcomes have made it easy! :T

Thank you for making me official too - in for the long haul now! :D

Frodobaggins I'm sorry to hear of your loss, but as others have said, your dog is at peace now.

Thanks to the successful avoidance of the company vending machines, I'd like to declare today as NSD 2 I'm in for the evening and am steering clear of the internet as I will be catching up on my studies tonight, which will mainly involve reading.

    Have a lovely evening ;)
