The “how many paydays ‘til Xmas” November NSD challenge

As you can see there is lots of activity on this challenge at the moment and it's difficult sometimes to see how many NSDs you're all declaring on posts.
Could I ask you to highlight your number of NSDs in a colour and in bold so that I can see them easily when I whizz through the posts - red would be best but I don't really mind as long as I can see the numbers easily.
Some helpful suggestions and ideas to follow below from our sponsor and godmother, BigMummaF :ANO SPEND CHALLENGE.
1. Have a good, long think about what YOU want to include in your Spend & Excluded categories.
Some of us count everything from Direct Debits & school expenses, while others do not include things like essential Bills or emergency medical costs. If you plan what is or is not a Spend for you now, it will help you decide on a realistic Target.
2. It is NOT a race!
We all have very different demands on our time & bank balance, so please do not think you have to buy everything on 1st January & make it last till 31st December! A few of us have been following this Challenge for a long...long...LONG time so have developed plans & ploys to help us along the way
3. Most important of all, WE..DO..NOT..FAIL!
Sometimes we can't quite reach our Target, but that is fineEveryone knows how Life will try to trip us up, & that is when you will find us here to help you back on to your feet.
OK, an idea of how some of us do things.
1. What you will or will not include as a 'Spend'.
Some people are doing other Challenges too, & don't include the money spent on those for this one.
Some will try to shop for other bits on the days their direct debits etc go out of their bank accounts; they're the real hard core of the bunch& have been l-o-n-g time Nsders so don't panic
Some won't count those annoying last minute demands from school & collections as you can't plan for them in advance, likewise emergency prescriptions or visits to the vet
Personally speaking & providing I don't buy anything else, I don't count parking for hospital appointments.(..but then I usually do my shopping because I'm already out )
General thoughts on €bay sales is the buyer has paid P&P so no cost to you
2. It takes Time to reach mega-numbers!
The First suggestion is the first, because a bit of planning will work wonders on your road to your Target. Have a look at Solvent's (aka Spoon:rotfl:) first posts each month for a hefty list of other Threads that may be of help. For example, there's a few giving ideas for packed lunches so you can avoid standing in the queue at the bakers for 45mins of your lunch hour! A good incentive to tweak your healthy eating & the pounds you save will show in your bank balance AND your waistline
It helps to have various 'money pots' for the different costs that happen like Scouts, dinner money, yoga, window cleaner etc etc. The idea is you "spend" all that money in one hit by....let's say **putting the week's bus fares into the pretty coffee jar, Jo's tumble tots SIZE=2]Weds mornings[/SIZE in the cracked teapot & Ben's £1 coin for the gym locker SIZE=2]Friday lunch[/SIZE in the pocket of the changing bag, on Tuesdays every week when you've got some change from doing the food shop, so an already spendy day. At least four 'spending days' condensed into one(**mine's jam jars for windows, milkman & a bit towards the bills!)
3. Any day the money stays in your pocket is a bonus!
If you look at it as a day you beat the system, you can't help but :j so don't fret it--ENJOY! If nothing else in here, we do manage find something to make us smile
We have virtual outings to wonderful places that never cost us a bean :rotfl:New York, Edinburgh & Brighton have been a couple & Spoon usually pilots the Tardis but you can use your own transport; my personal favourite has been a sit-on lawn mower borrowed from the cricket clubThe only thing to be aware of is Hubert the donkey who is partial to anything remotely edible but is not yet house-trained
And Remember;
there are no silly questions, so don't be afraid to ask us anything!"If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride"

Sooo, October wasn't fantastic as we kind of lost track of what we spent!
I think we may have managed about 6 or 7 days in the end. But, I'm determined that November will be better, will aim for 10 again this month, so far we've managed 1 NSD.

Hi lovely gang:A
Another quick update I’m afraid - where is the time going:eek:
A big welcome to all the newbies joining us today, it’s great to have you on board. If you’re not sure about anything please ask, we’re very friendly and there’s usually someone around to help. Feel free to join in with the chat and general nonsense on here, we’re fairly tame (well, most of the time, if you humour us). Good luck with your first NSD challenge - keep posting, that’s the secret to success here.

I think it went ok today, i managed to speak properly & not drop anything in front of her (although there was quite a lot of that behind the scenes :rotfl:). I think i got all the points on my list across, but the acid test will be tomorrow when i get feedback... if i'm on here before tea time i've been sacked & i'm home early :rotfl:
Am going to treat myself now to a G&T & lasagne & chips, i think i deserve it!!
And you definitely deserve that BDINI:T
Pleased it went well, I'm sure you did brilliantly :j:j:j:j

:j Just popped in to see how it went (sadly no NSD for me yet:().
Think I may be heading back into the red this month:mad: - switching mortgages and I've got 2 to pay this month:eek:. Unfortunately down to the way the way the dates worked (couldn't finish old one earlier due to penalty fee - now expired:) and then monthly dd due the day I could move it). However, it was going up a fair bit (£70) and the new one's slightly cheaper (£20) so it will effectively be saving me £90/month so def worth it in the longer term.
Will have to be extra careful this month ..... could've really done without it just before C tho!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
2016 Sell: £125/£250
£1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!0 -
Hi all!!
NSD 2 collected yesterday, can't believe it! Never before have I had 2 days where I haven't spent anything so close after payday!
Unfortunately today will be a spendy, i'm out for tea & bingo with a friend, but its only £3 for bingo so hoping to spend no more than £10 all night.
On a really tight budget this month, not sure whats happened but have £200 left for the month and this doesn't include food, so gonna have to give myself a budget and stick to it!
Have a good day everyone

Morning All! Happy Thursday!!!
Ive had 2 NSDs now!!!
Work days are easy, I take a packed lunch and stay away from the butty van, vending machine and the new shop next door! I drive passed all shops on the way home and once I close the door to my mums house, I refuse to go out!
The weekend is going to be trickier. Especially this one as i'm booked in for a hair cut and will end up spending on other things because its already a spend day...
Just going to have to keep biting my lip and constantly repeating to myself, Do I really need this, Do I really want this, Can I afford it etc..!
Hopefully today is another no spend - well saying that I'm going to Wickes in about 20 mins but im not spending my money!Car Paid in full - 10/06/2016 :j0 -

I'm the exact same! Weekdays are fine, its the weekends thats my problem. I used to go out all the time, everyweekend, borrow money from friends/family to fund my drinking, clubbing, taxi's, food during the weekend but ever since I got my own place last year i've become old before my time! lol, hardly been out lately.
Although this month is a bit hectic, This weekend I have a night out on Fri with my bestie who's had a hard time as late, the week after I have another night out in a different town with a different group of friends which has been planned for months. The week after my OH is dj'n in a nightclub but it is about 100 miles away, that includes petrol and hotel stay. Then the week after i'm going to visit friends for a long weekend but thats the other side of Scotland. Can't believe i've not done anything for nearly a year and this month is completely hectic! I've given myself a budget of £30 for this weekend and £30 for next weekend, fingers crossed I can stick to it!
Anyways i'm rambling, haha. Good luck to all x0 -
NSD 1 yesterday!
Was lucky, as had already asked my friend to buy something for me, but it was out of stock. Still! It's given me a nudge in the right direction. Will do better for the rest of the month.November £10 per day challenge: £265.93/£300
November NSDs: 5/10
Goal - Debt-free by XMAS 2012 Challenge #015: £10k
