The OP came on here for a rant, I didn't agree with her viewpoint. The fact is you should not be having children if you cannot afford them, and yes, I guess that applies to you even more than it does the OP. At least they are trying to help themselves, unlike some.
You don't know if I've got children or not, so please don't presume. As it happens, I was widowed at 26 with 3 children under 5 and no family to support me. I worked my a****e off to support my children till they were grown up & the only benefits I claimed were widows benefit and child benefit. My kids lost out on a lot by me not being there & also losing their father. (I'm not having a swipe at other mums who work full time, that was just my experience)
How about you? Do you practice what you preach? Have you any personal experience of the OP's situation?0 -

You are being horrible & it seems that this is becoming a worrying trend on these boards at the moment. I've just had the same experience in another thread and it's really upset me. I have been using this site and lurking on the forums for about 3 years and ive never seen nastiness like this. OP just wanted a rant & to let off some steam about her situation and all she got, from certain posters, is comments about why she had children and how she should be doing better.
I thought these forums where about mutual support and help. Or perhaps they would like a return to the workhouse, slum housing and malnutrition
Ive been using this site and forums for just over a year now and i HAVE seen nastiness like this and much worse.0 -

jtktbcould you post your SOA then we can see what money goes where and help you. I believe it is possible to manage, it means making meals from scratch,Weezls recipes are good, and buying second hand and using Freecycle for stuff. Me and DH have lived for 25 years on very low wages and I have been a housewife for years,we brought up 2 children and only had tax credits towards the end of their growing up as they didnt exist when my family was younger. it is a matter of thinking outside the box, make do and mend and doing free activities for recreation.
Take Care and remember the love of your children is better than any amount of money.0 -

Yep, because your first 10 odd posts were really constructive!:mad:Busy mummy of 4.:j0 -
Personally I think comments like this are more at home on facebook. Most people are mature enough to deal with comments and opinions from others which will frequently (and wildly) differ to those of their own, without trying to round up some kind of a possee to run them out of "stodge city".People like Bobajob (crass, rude, snappy) do not belong on this site!"Dont expect anybody else to support you, maybe you have a trust fund, maybe you have a wealthy spouse, but you never know when each one, might run out" - Mary Schmich0 -
I worked evening and weekends when DS was a baby and we needed a small 2nd income. Tax credits in its current form did not exist 11 years ago!
How old are the children? Non-means tested funding for nursery exists the term after child's 3rd birthday, which would cut costs. You are likely to receive help with childcare via the tax credit system though if you only worked part-time. You would need to work at least 16 hours to qualify.
Does the tax credit system really work that you lose £1 for every £1 earned? I can understand that you'd lose some but all? Is someone able to tell us how it works?0 -

Of course people know that you've got children; you've posted about trying to get money for a bed for your son!
You're just miffed because loads of people pointed out to you that you weren't eligible for the money you were trying to borrow!0 -
I think that was below the belt, tooclever had only asked if there was help available on other thread, there's many on here that reep in others misery.0
