IA - lovely to see you again. The next 121 sleeps till your holiday will fly by. And you are making great strides with your cards, you'll have paid them off in no time.

Wanted to thank you for advice re corsa, we collected our car a year ago and I'm really pleased with it, though I'll try not to use the wipers when it's icy:p

I love my corsa, and haven't had it go wrong yet bar needing maintenance stuff like brakes etc and obviously me breaking the wipers :rotfl:
What I'm discovering (and expected) is that I'll need to get a bigger car in 2-3 years or so to accomodate my beanstalks of children, but my plan was to keep it for 3-4 years anyway and then get something bigger. My loan was over 4 years about 18 months ago, but obviously the plan is to pay that off sooner anyway, hopefully within 18 months.
For a little town car with small children it's been perfect though :) It seems to be holding its value well also, as it depreciating slightly slower than my loan is being paid off, so I'm a happy bunny :D (bought for 5.5kish, worth about 4.5k now 18 months later).

    Happy saturday!

Had a very rare childfree night last night so me and DP went out on a date night. :D We went and played pool for an hour (which I suck at) and played on the arcades (which I also suck at, bar Mario kart, which I won despite having a broken machine *smug face*). Was really nice to get out without the kids as we don't get much chance to. As much as I love my girls and would do anything for them it's nice to get a break ;)

The girls had dance this morning and they loved being back after the xmas holidays. I was also very strict with them spending money on the vending machines, so we actually came home with change
Out of that change I also managed to nab a £1 coin for my secret pot :D Grand total: £2 :rotfl: It all helps though!

    All in all I spent:
My social budget of £10 (£5 for pool, £5 for arcades).
Dance budget was £10, of which I £7.50 for the girls' dance lessons, 70p on a bag of crisps they shared. Was left with £1.80, (£1 went into the pot, and 80p has gone towards school dinners along with some spare pennies in the old 'It pays to watch' gold piggy bank :D.

Today is housework day (Can you tell I'm procrastinating? :D) but later I intend to finish Need for Speed: the run so I can trade it in. Also need to finish Forza 4 but I think when I trade that it it'll go on a game for the girls instead of in cash to pay off the credit card as it was a Christmas present and it wouldn't feel right profiting from it! :) I may not get much in cash for Need for Speed, but every little helps and it was only £24 new anyway so it won't be a massive loss.

Anyway, off to prepare lunch for me and the short ones before carrying on sorting out this hell hole...

How is it sunday already? Where has the weekend gone??

Ah well, I've had a very productive weekend really. Have finished Need for speed, so can trade that it. I've also had a massive sort out of the girls' rooms and come out with a bag of clothes I can take to Cash4Clothes as well (along with 4 bags of rubbish, 4 bags of books/toys to donate to charity and an aching back ). How do kids accumalate so much crap?? Granted I won't get much for the clothes as there is only one bin bag worth, but even if I get £2 for them it's better than nothing and extra money that can go off the card.

Also today I was told about the Disney movie rewards, the codes on leaflets in some Disney DVDs. I had no idea what it was about and had never given it a second thought until someone on twitter was talking about theirs and how they had enough for 3 free disney DVDs! So while sorting out the girls' room I went through all of their DVDs and redeemed the codes on the website and found we'd got 650 points, which was enough to order a free (no postage costs either!) Lion king DVD and a tangled comb/mirror set! Awesome! Considering that the lion king dvd itself is normally at least £17, I'm a very happy bunny (as are the girls!).

Going to get to the game shop and cash4clothes sometime this week in between work. But will obviously update once I have and know exactly what I've got extra :D

Hi IA - sounds like things going well!! Out of interest, how much would you get when you trade in Need For Speed: The Run? DS1 had it on X Box for Christmas but finished it in an afternoon:mad:........wondering if it's worth him trading it in or not?

  • It was a very short game. Think I finished it in about 4 hours (2-3 evenings at an hour or so an evening so it doesn't surprise me that he finished it in an afternoon! Was a really good game though. Not sure how much it would be trade in but will obviously worth more to trade in for credit rather than cash. When I bought it it was £24 new so not going to get masses back for it. Maybe 5-10 trade and somewhere around 3-5 cash at a guess? Won't know until I nip in to the shop!

Today Amazon's "trade in store" is offering between £10 and £18 for this depending on its condition. You get the money in amazon gift certificates. The prices do vary from day to day.

If you search amazon for trade in store, you should find it.

Thanks! Will have to have a mooch round. I know I'm limiting myself by wanting cash, but can't see any other way to be able to use it to pay off the card. Might check music magpie et al tomorrow (replying by phone and the internet is soooo slooooow!).

Ah but if you have birthdays or something coming up and get the item from amazon with the gift certificate, you can use the cash you would have spent on the gift paying off the credit card instead.
