Just realised that I haven't been updating my NSDs because of the stress! All I can remember is that today was a NSD because I couldn't go anywhere.. :rotfl:
There's a benefit to this being stranded lark.. no petrol used.. no spending....:rotfl:Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Try http://www.vauxcentre.co.uk/ for your car part. I got a couple of wing mirrors from there the other day (you might need to ring up) for £40 cheaper than anywhere else on the net.0

Evening all!
Today has been a manic day at work, but thankfully due to this didn't spend anything while I was there. Always best to be busy!
I finally managed to get a Haynes manual (£20!!), and from looking at it with the right tools I might be able to do the repair myself. Tomorrow is going to be spent having a go at taking the old one off and seeing how hard it is, and looking round some scrapyards for the part. Car is still off the road so no dance for the girls' tomorrow as DP's car isn't in good nick either so only really wanting to have him give us lifts for essential journeys (We'll also be looking for new cars for him tomorrow! lol).
I did put £10 of petrol out of my budget in his car today due to the lifts he's giving me obviously and seeing as I won't need as much in mine. I'll also be saving £10 on dance that we won't be able to get to but obviously going to have to look at car parts tomorrow so fingers crossed we can get that cheap
We went out for a meal tonight just to unwind, so £40 of what was going to go off the CC went on that, but I haven't rejigged my budgets yet to take account of so many changes. Will endeavour to do this in the morning but the problem is I don't know what I'll be spending potentially on tools/parts or having the part fitted, so will just have to play it on the fly this week I think.

Morning all. It's freezing out there  not looking forward to having my head under the bonnet of a car in this weather. *shiver*
Plans of action for today:
Tidy up
Update my budgets (done, will post below)
Make a shopping list (done)
Do my food shopping somehow
Have a look at the car
Acquire tools needed to sort out car
Acquire PART needed to sort out car
Car shopping with DP
Weep into numerous cups of tea
Freeze to death under bonnet of car
Watch Xfactor final whilst weeping into tea
Girls haven't been able to go to dance this morning and it's a pretty good job I didn't ask DP for a lift early this morning as he's poorly. I ask my dad if I could borrow his car and/or tools (My insurance is fully comp) but I've not been able to get through to him so I'm presuming he's gone out xmas shopping! My dad used to be a mechanic in the RAF so if in doubt I suppose I could always ask him to have a look for me but he's not very au fait with modern cars and their complexity!
Feel so lost without a car it's ridiculous.
Anyway, here's my updated. I'm not paying anything off the card this week as I don't know what I'm going to need to pay out for in tools etc..
Food £60.00
Petrol £30.00 (£10 spent but not showing on bank account yet as it was pay at pump)
Social £20.00 (spent)
School dinners £21.00 (last week at school this week
Dance £0.00
Bills £255.32
total out
£366.32
total in bank
£387.96
surplus £21.64 Bah.....
Best get on with that to do list..Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

He should be fine with that. Wipers haven't changed all that much since the 20's.
He's talking more about the engine management systems and the such like."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Happy Sunday all!
Well I'm still no bloody nearer to gettng the car fixed as it's rained all weekend, none of the scrapyards I called had my car in and I've not yet been able to order a part online. Frustrated much? ME? Naaaah.
In happier news, I have had a few decentish quotes for the part online, ranging from about £60 to £130 for second hand - new and delivered. I just need to call some places tomorrow and sort something out as the other problem is not being at home to have something delivered. This is turning into a right nightmare I can tell you. *rolls eyes*
Anyway, budget update.
Food - got a lift to ASDA by DP, but seeing as it was saturday and it was rammed we ended up doing the full shop at Aldi in which I spent £50 of my £60 budget and got all but 2 items on my list :j
The other £10 of the food budget was spent on new school shoes for my youngest as hers was torn to shreads. (How do they do it? How do they manage to get through clothes/shoes so quickly??) :wall:
I still have £20 of my petrol budget remaining, but will be putting another £10 in DP's car tomorrow as he's giving me a lift to/from work plus he's driven my miserable a** all over the place over the weekend. Poor bloke.
We're a bit of an odd couple when it comes to cars, I love to drive and hate being a passenger (due to travel nausea/panic attacks/anxiety), whereas he hates it and has no sense of direction. We work well together normally as I'll happily drive wherever we need to go but I've been moody feeling helpless this weekend! I'm quite pathetic really :rotfl:
Haven't spent anything else due to not really going anywhere, but I need to get the missed foodie bits so that'll be an exciting job for tomorrow... *snore*
So, alas I'm no further forward and with another awkward week ahead. However on the plus side my persistence is going to end up saving me potentially £300, so it'll be worth it. Eventually...Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

Evening!
Today has been ridiculously busy and stressful. So glad it's over. The joy of my job is that while I love it, there are some days which are a real emotional/physical drain... *rests weary head*
Anyway, Monday is over... hurrah! In good news today I have managed to find and order the part I needed for my car (for £100 inc VAT/delivery- sob) which should arrive in a couple of days. Annoyingly the weather has been horrendous so I've not had chance to look at the car myself. In all honesty it's starting to cheese me off and I'm just considering booking it in with the garage that will charge me £50 to fit the part. It's getting ridiculous and I just want it fixed now. Yes it's £50, BUT it would still be £150 all in (plus £20 for the haynes manual) instead of the £400 the garage wanted, so still a substantial saving really for a week of annoyance and awkwardness. I'm on a course tomorrow so am not going to get much chance to call them but will try my best. I just want it done now and my car back on the road.
In other happy news DP has found and put the deposit down on his new car which he's picking up on Monday. He's selling his old sporty car in favour of a more 'family friendly car'. Poor bloke... :P
This week has been awkward as hell, and I don't even want to look at the credit card balances now
Will do my budgets tomorrow properly, as the whole thing with the car has totally thrown me off track. Thankfully I have the support of DP and also my dad, who's offered for me to borrow his car if needed as well as lending me some money for xmas presents until I get paid.
Anyway, I'm going to relax and unwind. Enjoy the wet and wild weather, all!Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043
