Hex - just finishing the stars - have you checked your hats and gloves?!

    Yes miss.

I need new slippers for my poor cold feet, and the boys need at least one more pair of gloves each. Found my jolly attractive fingerless gloves too :p.

ETA oh good, living room. The boys have cleared the worst of it today, and I will do my Snug too. Parents evening x 2 though so could be challenging.

    Evening all,

Can i just say well done to my big Sis neveah who got offered a job today. :T:j:beer:

I haven't got much flying to report except dailies. Today was taken up with working and Halloween. Ds1 (who's 14) told me when i was buying Ds2 (who's 5) a halloween outfit he was too old for trick or treating. When he got home from school he'd changed his mind. So i found an old white tshirt of mine and dripped red food colouring over it then used my make up to make him look like a zombie.

    Declutter Mission

Sort through your tea towels, table clothes, napkins etc and get rid of any you don’t like or use. Check you can find the one you want for Christmas Day whilst you are at it. I have loads of really tatty tea towels that shame me when i hang them on the line but i hate new tea towels, they don't dry properly. I've got some that are 14 years old.:o I'm going to have to find some new one's that dry properly before i bin the old favourites.

Vacuum through the living room, hall and stairs
    Level 2
Remove clutter making sure stairs especially are safe
Clean windows and all glass, including the tv screen
    Level 3
Clean the mantel or coffee table, re home things that don’t belong here
    Vacuum or wipe the sofas

    Declutter Mission:

Sort through all the DVDs, games, CDs etc and see which can be rehomed or sold. Check all the right discs are in their cases. Dust the area and replace them all. Get the family to help and try to get input of ideas for presents, ie somebody saying I love this film – is there a new/similar one out?

     Personal Challenges:starmod:

    Monday Trick or Treat
Today I want you to get somebody else to help with the flying, the more the merrier. Some of you are doing far too much for your household on your own (not all I know there are lots of partners and children who do help) so today I want you to either trick them into helping you and/or treat them for doing so. Any treat will do, bake a cake, rub their feet, just say thank you. If there is nobody to help then I want you to spend 15 minutes doing a job you really don’t want to and then give yourself a nice treat. Done the boys helped me decorate the house and carve the pumpkin and their reward was lots of sweets

    Tuesday Do it different Day

Most of us are creatures of habit, do things in the same way all of the time. All this autopilot is not good for the grey matter or the soul. So today’s challenge is simple, try to do things a bit differently. If you always clean a room clockwise, then do it anti clockwise, always use the same mug get a different one out. Always hoover the hard floor, try sweeping it. I don’t mind what you do just shake it up a bit.

    Preparing for winter challenges

Monday the clock have gone back summer is officially over
I know it is sad that summer is gone but we don’t want to keep tripping over flip flops on the kitchen floor to remind us of that. Today gather up all summer footwear, hats and lightweight jackets. Get rid of any that won’t be needed next year. Put the rest away checking that they are clean and shoes are washed, polished and reheeled if necessary – you will thank me for this when we get our first warm day next spring. I've already done this. Replace with gloves, scarves, woolly hats, boots and winter coasts. Check they fit and everybody is kitted out for the cold days which will be here soon. I need to get Ds2 a new hat and me some gloves. I found my wooly hat earlier. Ds1 is too cool for them, i've only just got him wearing a coat.

    Tuesday see the light

In case of power cuts make sure you have candles and matches, torches and batteries stored in an easy to get to place – no good rummaging in the back of a cupboard in the dark! Light a candle and hold it around the doors and windows to see where your insulation is lacking (ie where the flame gets blown) – please take care! If you have lots of candles then why not light one tonight in memory of all those no longer with us for All Souls Day.

    My list

Inform of move (i've been here 2 months & still haven't done this)
    Gas/Elec
    Mobiles x 2
    Car/House/Rabbit/Pl Insurances

Photo/list contents of floor of wardrobe (have listed lots today)

    Reshuffle/Declutter again
    Contents of dining room shelves
    Contents of dresser
Kitchen cupboards (only a bit nev)
    Desk drawers
    My bedroom drawers x 2

    Paint dresser
Shred old docs & tidy up files
Deal with drawer full of paperwork

    Good evening Ladies,

Thank you to dusty, julie and kazw for taking over, I don't contribute often but would miss this thread if it had gone. May I also add thanks to the outgoing leaders - my flat looks much better for your motivation, I hope you get to enjoy some free time now!

So I've been AWOL again for a while, it's been a really busy couple of months with a new job and long hours. Unfortunately cleaning, tidying and decluttering has been the lowest priority for a while so I need a bit of a kick to get it sorted :o

I am not going to join the challenges this week - although I do need to check the winter stuff - but want to try and complete 5 tasks I've been putting off. Most of those will probably involve recycling of some description!

Today, I have managed to thoroughly clean the kitchen. All surfaces are wiped and clean as is the floor. I emptied the bins and cleaned the bin cupboard yesterday. We share a WM with 2 other flats () so it is cleaned very often.
In the kitchen I still need to clean the oven and clean out the fridge.

I know we are not on bathrooms yet but I could do with some advice on cleaning the loo please! It is generally kept clean but a couple of months ago, we had a leak and where the water leaked from the cistern into the pan, we now have 2 vertical lines from the rim to the bowl and it's discoloured - I have tried scrubbing it with a scourer various cleaners and bleach but it still looks horrible. Any ideas ladies?

I've just realised that the paint that has been bought for the hall and landing is silk, not matt. I hate shiny paint and have repeatedly stated MATT paint only. I wish that a. I'd got the paint myself rather than trusting the painter, regardless of all his talk about trade discounts (it's 5l of Dulux, so not a huge expense compared to the cost of having the ceilings plastered) and b. I'd noticed before he started. He's only done the edges, but he's going to have to do them again... And I don't think he'll be pleased. Then again, he should have listened to what I said. Next time I'll find a female decorator. Or just do it myself.

I'll be out when he gets here in the morning, so have left a note on the paint asking him not to use anymore and saying I'll pick up some matt paint on my way home. He's got filler to rub down and the ceiling to paint while he waits. I bet he forgets to put the dust sheets down too...
  • Good evening :D

    Declutter mission - done :D
Personal challenge - does sending the kids to the Co-op to buy more sweets count (to save me going out)? Except that the stupid shop over charged them  and I had to go up there to sort it out! Should have been BOGOF - but the bar code on one of the identical packs was wrong, and instead on paying £1.85, they were charged £3.80! So much for them doing it for me :(
Winter challenge - me & DS need new wellies, DS & DD2 need new coats, DH needs new gloves

I was (attempting) studying earlier, but my sister phoned. She is halfway through her radiotherepy, so we had a chat (for about an hour!!). Oh well, there is always tomorrow :p Sister is well though :T She has always maintained that she wasn't ill, she just had a disease :p Hopefully, it is gone now (or will be).

Ok. i think i will check out the lists, then go to bed. Hugs & spoons to those that need them.
    Night night all :)
